Half a million dead civilians and soldiers, and millions of refugees later , - no one was punished for that conspiracy, not even a slap on the wrist.

we knew that . . . . bliar was trying to get on the bush crime family payroll so he sold the UK down the river . . . Robin Cook resigned from the government over it; bliar couldn't get the support he needed from Labour; the Lib Dems all said no . . so he went crawling to the Tories . . .

bush, cheney, bliar, et al must be tried for war crimes . . the Canadians, the French, Germans . . they all read the chimp's so called intelligence dossier and they wisely said no

Let's review:

By the middle of 2002, it was pretty clear to US/UK that Saddam
Hussein was a very annoying ruler, in that he was regularly shooting
at allied planes which were patrolling the Iraqi 'no-fly' zones. Sooner or
later, someone was going to get hurt. He implied that he had WMD's
though it was presumably understood that he didn't really, but that he
wouldn't say he didn't. His armed forces would not stand up to a serious
invasion force, which would be welcomed (by Kurds & Shia factions anyway)
as 'liberators'. There was a lot of oil & oil revenue just lying around to be
liberated also. The whole thing *could* be over in a month, with few allied
casualties, probably few Iraqi casualties also. So, a 'slam dunk'!

Finally, Afghanistan had been 'conquered' in a month by a rag-tag crew of CIA
& special forces ops with local insurgents. 'Conventional' US forces really had
to show that they were ready to rumble also.

So, 6 years later, it turns out we were wrong about most of this. Fortunately,
we'll be getting out soon, if not soon enough, and it only cost us a trillion or so.
Close enough for government work, as we used to say.

Is it important that UK spies 'sexed up' some intel? Not so much that it would
have made any difference.

Watch the PBS biography, the Bush War, and let us never forget monumental waste of finances the neo conservatives did with steering our country in the wrong direction, into the wrong war, for no clear reason.

I find it very hard to believe that Tony Blair a committed christian and (now) good catholic boy would be complicit in lies leading to death, injury and destruction on a massive scale. As a politician he would be required to act with honesty and integrity and he has displayed these traits throughout his career.

'This message brought to you by Tony Blair's biographer - book coming out soon, please buy'

Blair to Bush: Mr. President...watch out for all those marbles scattered all over the floor!

Just one of the many "losses" they may want to go back and recover, oh, besides their integrity, credibility, humanity, millions of lives, billions of dollars and pounds....etc....etc...etc.

I'm not surprised. The invasion was a done deal as of fall 2002 and probably as early as spring 2002.

We don't move 150,000 troops and all the associated support/logistics halfway around the world as a show of force. For one it's much too expensive. A show of force is a couple carrier battle groups and maybe an Air Force fighter squadron.

When we start moving the heavy iron you know there's going to be a war.

Major you sound like you know what your talking about, Was the Iraq invasion authorized by the U.N. security council? Its very confusing, some say resolution 1441 gave the U.S. authorization, others say it did'nt.

I'm not sure. Not that it really mattered. We just wanted the UN resolution as a political fig leaf.

We would have simply kept moving the goalpost so that the Iraqis never could meet our demands.

Don't think this adds a great deal to what we knew at the time. To anybody with half a brain it was obvious we were being lied to - not one but two dossiers were released to try to convince us, then there was Colin Powell's ridiculous testimony before the UN, then the egregious Perle appeared in a major debate on British TV with leading European politicians , then there was the constant propaganda put out by the sections of the UK media owned by the proprietor of Fox News - despite all this the majority of the British people were unconvinced.

The US public were a bit more gullible I think.

Please grant immunity to the people in the know within our intelligence and the British intelligence community who know the truth and the lies and who knew what when and go after Blair, Bush, Cheney, Addington, Rumsfeld, Rove, Rice, Wolfowitz, Feith, and all the rest. The country must protect itself from the future by punishing these individuals harshly.

Please enlighten us on your vast knowledge of England. Seems the educational system is superior to the US, since most Brits. KNEW this was a farce. When the US produces "graduates from Yale and Harvard with the mentality of a mushroom (Georgie) you should hesitate to critisize other countries. Limbaugh would NEVER attain the fame in Britain that he has in the USA. They would laugh him off the landscape.
