Stephen E. Quick, Samantha Light Accused Of Taping Themselves Having Sex With Children

VEEDERSBURG, Ind. — A couple who ran a baby-sitting service out of their home videotaped themselves performing sex acts with children, some as young as 2 months old, police said Friday.

Stephen E. Quick, 31, and Samantha Light, 25, both of Veedersburg in western Indiana, were being held on $100,000 bond in Fountain County Jail. Both faced preliminary charges of child molestation and child exploitation. Jail staff did not know whether either one had an attorney.

Police who searched the couple's home found a videotape depicting sex acts involving Quick and Light and at least four different children between the ages of 2 months and 6 years old, said Fountain County Sheriff's Deputy Bob Kemp.

"In 15 years of doing this job, it's the worst thing I've ever seen or imagined," he told WRTV. "Just horrible, just horrible It's a new low."

Police searched the couple's home after the parents of a 3-year-old girl reported that she told them Quick and Light had touched her inappropriately and photographed her at their home on Feb. 28.

Deputies seized several computers, cameras, a video camera, pornographic materials, drugs and drug paraphernalia. Several sex toys that appeared in the video were seized during a second search, police said.

Quick and Light were arrested March 5. Neither has a criminal history.

Authorities have removed the couple's daughter from their home.

My other post ran out of space because I wanted to add some thing about day care in the state of Michigan and this is complete insanity! #1- Any person can open and operate a day care center in Michigan as long as they have NO FELONY CONVICTIONS and #2- they are not required to carry ANY type of insurance! INCREDIBLE!Also when this place for due for yearly inspection,they were notified before hand! I could go on and on but I get to upset, so my advice is to be relentless when choosing a day care for your precious little ones!P.S. The interesting thing about most of the comments here is that everyone agrees what this couple did was horrible and evil, but no one has asked "what is wrong with US"?

I contend that beyond the individuals' blame, our society must accept some responsibility for the actions of those who are part of it and must ask some hard questions.

There's a strange juxtaposition in the U.S. of sexual repression (the Janet Jackson syndrome) and sexual expression (which often rears its head in ugly ways, in the form of deviance and obsession).

The U.S. has also become a very isolated place, where privacy is prized over community, where people feel disconnected or excluded from the very people they live amongst.

I'm not suggesting these people were victims or not responsible for their actions, just that it's a very George W. Bush-like simplification to write off the growing number of extreme crimes (be they mass murders or sexual predators) as a few bad eggs.

I know this to be true because I worked in the Michigan penal system for 15 years and the inmates do have their own social system and guess what,creeps who pray on children are on the bottom rung and that translates into constant death threats,gang rapes, and horrific beatings of these sick bastards! Someone said that this kind of stuff used to be rare. It could be caused by video rentals of pornography, but since child pornography is illegal, it could be child porn sold on the black market.

Violent porn and child porn should be kept off the market worldwide. The bible says, " As the twig is bent, so shall it grow.," Young people exposed to porn will be influenced by what porn they see and others around them.

The only positive to come out of this story is that there is one 3 year old who was taught well by her parents, and trusted them to report "inappropriate touching" to them.

I am so proud of the 3 yr old that told her parents. I am a grandmother to another one of the victims here. I am also a survivor of molestation. I didn't tell until I was an adult. I have many many times told my grandchild that no matter what, if something like this happens, it is not the child's fault. The child will NOT be in trouble, NO ONE will be hurt or killed if the child tells. My grandchild is older than the 3 yr old and was told by Steve and Sam that his/her mommy will be hurt bad or killed if he/she tells." My grandchild believed this and decided to protect his/her mommy. Once he/she heard that they were in jail, this child then felt it was now safe to tell.

Yes, HoosierGrandma, it does show the immense control that abusers DO have over their victims and it shows just how insidious this crime of sexual abuse can be. My heart goes out to you and your family as you try to bring these perpetrators to justice. It is a good thing the police have video of the crimes or it would be impossible to prove and bring justice to these families who have been victims. What do we do? Convicting these criminals does nothing to heal the victims of the crime. Killing or torturing the perpetrators only makes matters worse since it cannot take away the harm experienced by the victims and because the perpetrators are more often than not victims of the same insidious crime themselves. They are acting out their own pain by watching themselves do it to others. How can they see what they are doing when they feel nothing for themselves or their victims? No amount of punishment or torture will cure them or satiate their desire to punish others and to rob their victims of trust and innocence. Speaking out and alerting others to the danger and the process and tricks of the abusers, I think, is the only action that has any power to redeem the victims--past, present, and future. So far, I've found no other way to transcend the pain. One thing is for sure, it doesn't work to hide it or to act like it never happened. Trust must be restored.

From what I've seen, the girls (vast majority of the abused) grow up to either become protectors of children or they get involved with an abuser whom they protect.
