Bill Posey Sponsors Presidential Birth Certificate Bill

Posey

Freshman Republican Rep. Bill Posey of Florida has introduced a bill that would require presidential candidates to present proof of U.S. citizenship before running for office. The bill, he says, would prevent future legal arguments, like the one that continues to persist (if only on the internet) about President Barack Obama's eligibility to serve.

"Opponents of President Obama are raising the birth certificate issue as a means of questioning his eligibility to serve as president," Posey said in a statement. "This bill, by simply requiring such documentation for future candidates for president, will remove this issue as a reason for questioning the legitimacy of a candidate elected as president."

According to Politico, Posey's bill has no co-sponsors yet.

Obama has actually produced a copy of his Hawaii birth certificate, and it has been certified by the state of Hawaii. The so-called "birther" movement, however, is calling for Obama to release his original birth certificate.

Posey's bill is similar to a constitutional amendment proposed in Missouri earlier this month, which also calls for proof of citizenship from presidential candidates.

MAY THE GOP STAY GONE FOREVER!

The article states obama provided a copy of his birth certificate. That is not true. He provided a Certification of Live Birth. That is much different. Even Hawaii does not accept this as proof of birth for Hawaiians applying for the Hawaiian Home Lands Act. My goodness. This is so simple! Just show the birth certificate and end this nonsense. Why spend millions keeping it a secret? What does he have to hide?

All of you on page 1 (that's all I've read so far) needs to get a brain. I suppose if Obama told you the sky was green, you would believe him. I don't understand what is wrong with you people. factcheck.org and snopes.com is not reliable information. It is as reliable as the people posting the information and even they said that, for factcheck.org. You need to do your own research. I don't know why we need to introduce a new bill anyway, for the presidential thing; it is already in our Constitution of the United States. All we are doing is asking Obama to show us the papers and for some reason, he is spending at least millions of dollars fighting this. Now, don't you need to ask yourself the question of "why". If he is an
American citizen, why doesn't he just show his papers? I'll have to when I am asked and I resent that when Obama doesn't have to show his. I want an American running our country, not someone from another country. God help us of Schwarzenegger was to get voted in for president. I believe our President of the United States should set a good example for the people.

This is rich coming from the guys who wanted to change the Constitution so The Terminator could be President. Too funny! Get over yourselves already. I'd like to see his original birth certificate. I don't know where mine is, maybe my parents have lied to me my whole life. Maybe I'm not really American. With all the financial problems in FL and the foreclosures, etc. this is what the Floridians sent this guy to DC to do? I find that hard to believe.

Don't these Repubs who keep hammering away at this tired subject realize
how ridiculous they look.? Obama is a citizen. Get over it. It 's proven. Accept
it. And by the way Mr. Posey where were you born? Is your name really Posey?
Can you prove it? How long have you lived in Florida? Let me see your tax
returns?

The Republican Party continues its focus on the pressing issues important to.....well....um...no one, actually.

Yay! Keep it up, dinosaurs! We will make a better America while you continue your lumbering march to the boneyard.

...Posey said in a statement. "This bill, by simply requiring such documentation for future candidates for president, will remove this issue as a reason for questioning the legitimacy of a candidate elected as president." ...

This bill has the sole purpose of legitimizing the false arguement.
