I would love to see Michelle and other Black women wear their "own" hair instead of all the fake hair that is prevalent. With a little time and attention, Black hair (whether relaxed or natural) can be styled elegantly, simply, and creatively. I liked the "rocked and rolled" because it looks like her own hair. The Michelle, unfortnately, while it is an OK look if it is your own hair appears to have been created with tracks, extensions, etc. and is rather stiff and unnatural looking. Makes her look like a mannequin as does the false eyelashes.

The Michelle style may be her own hair. I wear my own hair no extensions in it and I can comb it , just like that!!! If you have full thick hair like I do, it can look like tracks sometimes but its not. The front, you just use big rollers and bingo you got it.
Although I like the rock and rolled #2 best, I really like the Michelle too.
She rocks it!!

I applaud you for wearing for wearing your own hair, being able to comb it, and for all the sisters who do the same. I am a sister who is dismayed when I see head after head of wig hair on both younger and older sisters. They look unnatural and in many cases clownish! Many black women seem to have given up on learning how to take care of their hair and also teaching their daughters how to do so. Michelle has an excellent opportunity to role model class and pride in our natural traits. In many cases, she is doing just that. I just hope she will not become another walking weave!!! There is nothing wrong with enhancements but we seem to have reached a tipping point where we have given up on setting any standards that emanate from our heritage. Wouldn't it be nice if Black women set standards instead of trying to emulate Jackie O and the styles of other ethnicities? Surely we have something original to contribute.

The #1 is not an "elegant updo", it's merely where she has her hair pulled back or pinned up, the way black women wear their hair when they need to go to the salon.

Michelle is a strikingly beautiful woman. MUCH more beautiful than these pictures would suggest. But I really want to see her with way longer hair to deemphasize her broad shoulders. Once I suggested this to an ex-girlfriend with the same shoulders; everyone took notice of her. Just a thought, I'm hardly a fashionable dude myself.

Since I was thinking of a hair length to reach her back- yeah it'd probably have to be extensions. Nothing wrong with that.

This is an insult to Michelle Obama and all women across the globe who have an IQ above 40. Who cares about her hairstyle or her clothes??? If she were Palin, with nothing to say, well then, yes, we would need to focus on this inane topic. But Michelle is an Ivy League educated attorney who has managed to achieve what few women have ever done: raise a lovely family, trained a decent husband AND succeed professionally.

My favorite look is from pic # 2, but not the 'do from the Prayer Breakfast, I think her hairstyle for the Stevie Wonder concert was much better. The Prayer Breakfast look made her look kind of Stepford Wife-ish, IMO lol.
