George Clooney Videoblog: A Bathroom Tour, Andy Rooney Impression And Nicholas Kristof Showering

George Clooney

George Clooney filmed a personal videoblog ("the Clooney cam") during a trip he took to Chad with NBC and some of the footage is now online, from a bathroom tour to the New York Times' Nicholas Kristof coming out of the shower.

Giving a tour of his hotel bathroom in Goz Beida, Clooney tells the camera, "Right here, that's the water bucket that you use to flush the toilet... The hose here, that's the shower. Niiiice."

Then, catching a reflection of himself in the mirror, he starts tousling his unkempt hair.

"That's a nice hairdo, by the way. I pay people to cut my hair. I pay them a lot of money. You'd think it would last longer. I'm sounding like Andy Rooney." With that, he did a Rooney impression.

In another video he talks about bunking in the hotel room with Pulitzer-winner Nicholas Kristof. "When you win a Pulitzer, you get to shack up with a two-time Sexiest Man Alive. That seems fair to me."

He then secretly left the camera on while Kristof came out of the shower, with Kristof audio but no towel shots.

Ahhh, George, we already liked you. You already made my heart go pitter pat. Why go and do stuff that really matters, like stopping genocide and stuff.

All that loveliness and sense of humor (love your Andy impression), AND heart and soul? And willing to room with Nick Kristof and shower with a hose and bucket to call attention to suffering when you could be lounging on any beach in the world with some 20 year old? (not to mention looking good in a crappy t-shirt and needing a shave.)

Now my heart and I are totally helpless. Unfortunately, I could be that 20 year old's mom, so I'm out of the running.

Oh well.

Great work by the way. You represent us well.

I have neighbors that have worse bathrooms than that.

Thank you for the awareness that this is bringing to people who may not know how serious the situation is. I am happy that someone will listen to George Clooney. He is a true gift to share his high profile publically to enlighten the world for this cause.

Love and Peace

I love George - he gets better with the years and he is intelligent and caring.

Hey that bathroom looks just like mine! George Clooney is a riot...I wonder if Kristoff will write a column about shacking up with him.

You said it Jobecky20! George is a hoot here and I split my sides with his comments and facial expressions, particularly his Andy Rooney rendition. What a riot! I don't think he takes himself too seriously and knows he's very attractive to us ladies. Don't care how rustic the environment is, I'd love to share a room with him!

Clooney is beautiful on inside too.
The man has a caring heart.

Going against the grain here, while he's more useful than most celebrities, I found his bathroom commentary a bit snarky and privileged. That's a much, much nicer bathroom that most of the world lives with. It suggests to me he hasn't actually traveled much in the third world, at least outside the foreign luxury hotels. I'll bet Nick Kristoff didn't find the facilities joke-worthy. Hopefully this will open his eyes. Still, I do find him funny and likable. He sure makes the camera his friend.

Uh, Clooney has traveled extensively through the poor, ravaged countries for a decade or so now. Countries without "foreign luxury hotels". Remember Darfur? Clooney is a jokester. By all accounts he was a jokester when he was unknown, and continued to be a jokester when he gained fame and recognition. He makes light of stuff that is uncomfortable, like most jokesters do. Believe me, I know a lot of people that aren't "privileged" that would be much more frustrated and exude a much more prominent sense of entitlement. Clooney didn't portray that attitude at all. Sounds like you're projecting your expectations of spoiled celebrities onto him without evidence.

Sounds like you're projecting your expectations of someone who happens to feel differently from you about someone's behavior onto me without evidence. It is what is is -- snarky.

Andy Rooney impression was pretty funny. LMAO

Hehe, what a sweetie. See, I can believe he actually cares about this stuff, because he doesn't take himself so seriously.

I'm looking at you, Sean Penn.

Clooney does a great Rooney...(So funny that knucklehead.) Well, my crush will not abate, along with a gazillion other women. But now I'm thinking I want to BE George Clooney: Villa on Lake Como, endearing self effacement, my pick of any Cohen brothers or any other film I wish to make an important statement with, a healthy perspective on what BS fame is, and the presence of mind and conviction to use that fame to shed light on an impossible situation. (sigh)

He claims he' s never done much as an actor; but the movie "Syriana" was excellent, and how anyone could not love him after "O Brother, Where Art Though" is beyond me. He deserves a great deal of respect, as well, for all the work he does with causes such as Darfur. It's also nice to see that he doesn't take his wealth too seriously.
