AIG's Solution: Change Its Name

Edward Liddy, the CEO of American International Group, told to a congressional panel on Wednesday that AIG would never recover its reputation after being dragged through so much mud. The only solution, he said, is to change the company's name.

"I think the AIG name is so thoroughly wounded and disgraced that we're probably going to have to change it," Liddy said.

That may not be such a bad idea. And since taxpayers own an 80 percent stake in the firm, it's only fair that the American people decide on the new name.

What ever happened to those quaint old anti-trust laws? If they are to big to fail, break them up, and sell off the parts in a size that is not to big to fail. Seems pretty simple for all of the offending companies. Also, remember back in October when Chicken Little Paulson said if we did not give these guys $750 billion dollars, that the stock market would crash, and the financial system would collapse within a week. Kudos to "P.I.G." and "CEOs R*pe And Pillage", but the name-change campaign will probably feature an ad with terrified small animals caught in a rainstorm until suddenly they're sheltered by a sweet loving bird, and a voice says, "Golden Swan. We cover you with our wings." The camera pulls back, the swan smiles sweetly and morphs into the new logo. Golden Swan. Small unreadable print will say, "formerly A.I.G."
