I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Suze Bush

In a long profile by WWD's Jacob Bernstein, Suze Orman sounds off on George Bush and blames the ex-president for the financial crisis (near the bottom of the first page):

Sitting in a green room after her TV interviews, she lambasts everyone from Alan Greenspan to Larry Summers to the former president of the United States, who holds an especially dark place in her heart. "Commander in Chief?" she says of George W. Bush, with a mix of disbelief and scorn. "You blew up every single financial vessel we had and if you think you aren't personally responsible, well, the blame starts at the top. There is no higher top than you, SIR! If I were you, I would feel so absolutely horrific that I would take every penny I had and distribute it to anybody and everybody to help them in whatever way I could. You owe the American people every penny of your fortune and your family's fortune."

Orman also calls being impersonated by SNL's Kristen Wiig the “greatest honor of my career" and that often during her show she is forced to stop and think, "Ugh. I’m playing Kristen Wiig."

Thanks Suze for having the courage to say what we all really think.

I think George Bush owes my husband and our family an apology for stopping stem cell research eight years ago and not giving my husband even a glimmer of hope for a cure for Lou Gehrig's Disease. He died around Christmas time last year of this horrific disease and told me that George Bush killed his only hope for a cure.

Sorry I got off topic but George Bush's policies permeated every part of our being. We will never forgive or forget what he did.

Not only did the Bush/Cheney cabal fiddle while Rome burned, they threw fuel on the fire. It's amazing people haven't taken to the streets with pitchforks. The financial disaster started with the deregulation frenzy set in place by Saint Ronnie. It started when Wall Street began paying lobbiest billions of dollars to re-write the laws, which gave them a green light to take dangerous and unnecessary risks with our money. Obviously, plenty of Democrats are guilty as well, but it was the basic conservative/Republican ideology of deregulation accompanied by lack of oversight that laid the framework.

A testament to the efficacy of the propaganda model put forth by Chomsky and Hermann.

As a body of people, American citizens cannot see this. If anything, the propaganda machine is THE contribution made by the modern era. Works better than the sword or threats of eternal damnation. The next wave will have to be a doosie.

George Bush should on on Celebrity Apprentice...how long before he got fired? He'd be worse than Denis Rodman, less effective than Andrew Dice Clay and not half as funny as Joan Rivers.

This is good...
Suze Orman, book seller and paid for speaker, is now the oracle for the financial system...
LOL

how about she reads back a little to the Clinton years...
and the loosening of credit standards for Freddie and Fannie to get the Democratic demographic into homes...

oh, I forgot, she's a Democrat... so we can forget about that.

There are no laws that require anyone to make bad loans.

Clinton didn't have the power to loosen credit standards by fiat. The legislature did, and was controlled by Republicans for most of, and especially the latter part of, Clinton's presidency. Democrats didn't even take control of the congress, and just barely, until 2006. Bush was president, in control with greater power than a president had exercised since the Civil War, and the Republican controlled congress was in complete control throughout the first six years of the 21st century, and they chose not to "fix" the problem you ascribe to the "power" of liberals. The Democrats are not without blame, certainly, but to fixate on blaming them is just partisan dishonesty because the Democrats weren't in control for most of that time - the Republicans were.

A study was done recently showing that more people in Republican districts are foreclosing on their homes. So apparently, it was all those Republican demographics that actually benefitted from all those toxic loans, and in turn would stand to benefit from the stimulus package.

What's the point of bashing Bush when the current governmant wants to increase the federal governments income to debt ratio to 80%! Where is Suze when we really need her?

Is that compared to Bush's off the books mumbo-jumbo of a budget?

All the Dems can do now is try to pick up the pieces.

I'm with Suze on this one!

This is not a well reasoned comment. It ignores the distinction between abusive, dead-end waste that diverts public funds to serve overweening private greed, and necessary economic stimulus.

You have it backwards. Because of what Bush did and failed to do, the current government must increase the income to debt ratio to 80%. That's the point of bashing Bush: he screwed it up and now we're all paying for his misdeeds.

Bush and his GOP cronies set this financial disaster in motion at the tail-end of the Clinton years. No blame to Obama for this mess!!

Thank you Suze for speaking the truth.

What? George Bush borrowed money for everything from disaster relief to fighting a war. Never once asking those that were profiting from this great nation to contribute. Did you complain about borrowing money then? When no one in the private sector is spending money and spending money is the only way to get out of the mess Bush created, there is no one but the Government to do it. Had Little George not squandered the budget surpluses he had we would need to borrow to fix this, actually we wouldn't be in this mess, but you don't want to hear that do you. It might rupture the bubble you are living in.

She didn't say that.

She just said Bush is responsible. It happened ON HIS WATCH.

She is just observing a fact. Something few people in the media today have the courage to do.

Good for Suze!

From Contract with America to the Phil Gramm lead deregulation of financial industry to Bush class warfare tax cuts to filibluster of the just say No! Sarah Palin (ugh) GOPpers led by a Radio Comedian to Boehner/Cantor/Jindal.....Bush owes us his fortune. Bush 41 owes that $14M he got in gifts from the Saudis for saving their butts in the early 90s.

The only 12 decisionsI want to hear Bush write about are "has he really stopped drinking"? That was a crazy 8 years.
