DNC Finally Reimburses Chicago For Obama's $1.74M Election Night Rally

Chicago Mayor Richard Daley says the Democratic National Committee has reimbursed the city for the cost of President Barack Obama's $1.74 million election night rally.

DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse says the payment was made recently. He attributes the five-month delay to complex issues that needed to be worked out with the city.

More than 100,000 people celebrated on Nov. 4 in downtown Chicago's Grant Park.

The Chicago Police Department racked up about $1 million of the cost. All the city's police officers were required to work. They cleared the park of rally-goers less than an hour after it ended.

Another big bill came from the Office of Emergency Management and Communications, which spent more than $120,000 that night.

Chicago did not say how much money the city made from all the people who came--then again that would be positive news and we don't want to spoil the negative news every day all day.

This post brings back sweet memories. WHAT A NIGHT that was when Obama won! Whatever it cost for the celebration at Grant Park was well worth it. I try to be grateful everyday to be rid of W, and for having averted the old guy and the klondike barbie.

Amen, What a night to remember and we will have to stay focused on the mission to bring change to America. It will not be easy but we must support the President and not just be a voice of discension; I'm not saying you cannot disagree with the President method or his teams but in the end we must be willing to let it go and come to a conclusion that he is the leader and will give him the benefit of the doubt.
