Once again, Fox News ha not issued an apology.

"My words were misunderstood" is NOT an apology. It is blaming the listeners.

"I am sorry that my bad sense of humor and insensitivity caused offense" is an apology.
There wasn't an admission of guilt here at all.

Greetings from Vancouver.
While I was disappointed but not surprised by the attempt at humour from Fox, while reading these posts it occured to me that maybe we all owe a debt of thanks to these clowns. Huffpost and many other sites are full of comments back and forth from Canadians and Americans. They show me how a good number of you feel about us up here and it's heartening. We suffered along with you these past 8 years also yearning for change for you/us. Hopefully President Obamma will provide that. I am in my late fifties and he is one of the best I've seen leading your Country.
Best of luck in tough times USA and I know you give it right back to us!

Leave the humor to the funny. FOX News gives us laughs because they are clueless when it comes to Journalism. Why do you think they are the chief source of videotape for Mr. Stewart and Mr. Colbert?

While brave American soldiers are being killed daily in the ill-conceived war in Iraq ,Canada and other countries have been fighting in Afghanistan, where the real terrorists are.To date 116 Canadian soldiers have been killed there, and in fact within a day or so of this condescending, xenophobic, uninformed rant going out over the airwaves, four more of them were being sent home to be buried by their families.
Clearly, commentators at Fox News are not into fact checking before they go on the air to ramble incoherently. "This so called apology is meaningless...Canadians who subscribe to Fox News are being encouraged to cancel their subscriptions, and Canadian companies who advertise on Fox to withdraw their ads....I hope they do.

I'm Canadian and I can't believe anyone would degrade the troops, my troops. Whether you believe in the war or not, which I'm not for, no one should degrade any countries' troops. That host should be fired.

Just saw him on Red Eye and he issued an on-air apology. Very sincere, no mocking, or humor, during it.
04:36 PM on 03/24/2009
Real apologies don't contain the word "if". Canadians know the difference.

It does if you're not apologizing to everyone.

You thought that was sincere? It looked to me that he was just trying to get it over with as quickly as he could.
09:49 PM on 03/24/2009
Oh I'm sure he didn't want to do it. I think he was sincere about not wanting people to be truly offended. At the same time, I think the apology was given begrudgingly, because he feels it's just satire and not meant to be taken as seriously.

I don’t understand who or what this guy is sorry for. Was it himself? Or was it those who “misunderstood” his comments? Isn’t he a professional communicator? What went wrong?

Didn’t Jim Cramer also plead with John Stewart that some of his comments were taken out of context too? We saw what that lead to… Face it, when serious news outlets decide they want to become entertainment, facts and form go out the window. But, as long as we keep watching garbage, they’ll keep offering up.

It is simple… FOX News - Made you look!

And... since apologies are the “in” thing now with infotainment personalities; let me just say I too am sorry… Sorry that journalists with integrity have lost their place to the Jim Cramer’s and Greg Gutfeld’s of this world.

I don't know this show, but it appears to fit my expectations of Fox: classless and humorless.

My father fought alongside Canadian troops during the invasion of Normandy and spoke of them often in his later years in glowing terms. On a personal and professional level, I have nothing but respect for my brothers in the Canadian military. This attempt at satire or comedy by Fox is demonstrative of the network as a whole, an utter failure. As a country we Americans know Canada is our best friend this side of the pond if not in the world. As for recent history, let us not forget Canada has lost more than her share of sons (and probably daughters) while supporting the USA in the field since 9//. Four more just last week in Afghanistan.
I say thank you Canada for being the best neighbor this country could ever have. We will try do do better.

You can tell your dad, if he's still alive, that almost every Canadian soldier has respect for American soldiers as well. We like rib each other all the time, but when push comes to shove, we know who were gonna ask for help.
11:58 PM on 03/23/2009
I lost my dad in 1994, I miss him he was a great guy. But you can still call me, been there before and I'll be there again if need be.

Some apology!
He said he meant no disrespect. What the frack did he mean then???? There was nothing ambiguous about his mockery. He can't even apologize properly.

I'm glad to see that his comedian cohort on the show, who was supposed to go the Canada to do a show, had his Canadian show cancelled.
