Simon Cowell Rejects Dinner Invitation From Obama (VIDEO)

Simon Cowell blew off President Obama's invitation to dinner last week, or so claims the "American Idol" judge.

Monday night on "The Tonight Show" Cowell responded to Obama's name drop of him on the same show last week.

Obama had joked to Leno, "I do think Washington...it's a little bit like American Idol, except everybody is like Simon Cowell."

Cowell told Leno, "I think what he was trying to say was Washington has become more intelligent." He then said Obama wanted to have dinner with him, but he was busy.

"He wanted to do 8, I was free at 9. We just didn't quite connect. But I said, anytime I'm in Washington."

So he passed on the invitation.

Backstage Cowell told "Extra!" that Obama's use of his name meant, "Washington has become more truthful, more honest, more sincere...more intelligent."
