Desiree Rogers Voted Washington's Best-Dressed Woman (SLIDESHOW)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 04/25/09 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 02:10 PM ET

She's only been in Washington for a little over two months, but Chicago transplant Desiree Rogers has already been crowned the District's best-dressed woman by Huffington Post readers. Jill Biden came in a very close second to the White House's Social Secretary while DC's first lady Michelle Fenty followed in third. More pictures of Rogers below.

Here's what a few of you had to say about Desiree Rogers and her fellow nominees:

ChaiKat:

Desiree all the way. I love the way she dresses, and I wish I could carry off a short hair do like that.

TiffanyHusseinBanned:

Love Desiree Rogers and MIchelle Fenty.

Both have great style. I want to be like them when I grow up.

EgyptianMysterySchool:

I just couldn't bring myself to vote on a "best dressed" poll (machismo, I know) - but I will say that Michelle Fenty and Desiree Rogers are the two finest women I have ever seen in high powered/ political Washington. Washington version 2009 proves brains and beauty go well together.

Big-ups for D.C.'s first couple being products of Howard U.

paulita:

Ditto on they all look fab! It was hard to choose as well. Nancy Pelosi should be greatly admired for her elegance and grace and aging with class and style a role model for us all.

Dr. Biden is a different kind of beauty who looks beautiful but doesnt look like aging barbie. Ms. Fenty and Ms Rogers are just stunning.

In the end I voted for Ms Fenty solely based on the pictures.

They even look more stunning because in Washington if you wear other than black or grey in a power position you considered overly flashy, so they are doing the muted colors with class!

Maybe First Lady Obama will bring some color to Washington and wash away the grey hee hee

All I can say is, with the arrival of the Obamas and their entourage, there is definitely some nice flavors in the not so Whitehouse now! I don't think the Condi ever represented the beautiful Black women of America as well as the women in there now do, because it seems that she lost her flavor some time ago. Bad associations can bring about assimilation, if you hang out with flavorless people , you can soon loose your own flavor, I think that was one of Condi's problems she was in a very dull place for a very long time, wirh a lot of very dull and flavorless people.

Actually I thought Condi dressed beautifully always so elegant. Her problem was the people she hung out with especially her shadow. She had a nice simple but dignified fashion sense all her own.

They wouldn't be in the public eye if they didn't expect to be photographed incessantly. It's part of the job description.

I would add Alfre Woodard, Whoopie Goldberg, Queen Latifah, CCH Pounder, and of course the fabulous writer, Alice Walker. And so many more!

The list is long, and looking at this amazing group of women so obviously comfortable in their environment is just wonderful.
I am not Black, nor am I American, but I feel immensely happy and exhilarated by these accomplished and beautiful women.

Desiree is a fabulous, smart, classy woman. She obviously knows her way around fashion and is not afraid to show it. Thank you for being such a great role model for young girls everywhere to emulate; regardless of color!

You guys criticizing Desiree sound jealous and petty. You need to stop. We know most folks are jealous of beautiful black women and we know that black women are stunning -- look at our celebrities : Diahann Carroll, Diana Ross, Eartha Kitt, Josephine Baker, Tina Turner, Beyonce, Whitney Houston (before).

We are fabulous -- we age better and have better bodies.

Your comment is not worth commenting on. You just go on and on. You have tunnel vision and not a good thinker, in my opinion.

You can say that again. Everyone knows we are beautiful and stunning, but those in control of the media, sure showed their bias and insecurity.

This woman may be best dressed but needs a serious personality make over. She is known as the "Bulldog" for her demeanor. My sister was at the WH for the Stevie Wonder event & the way Rogers talked down to everyone is quite appaling. Jill Biden should've won because she is beautiful inside out.Rogers does a disservice to women in general.
