Obama's Budget: The Ad Campaign

Obama's Budget: The Ad Campaign

Americans United for Change, a key Democratic-backing group, will begin airing an ad today aimed at prodding Senate "centrists" to support President Obama's budget proposal.

The ad campaign launches on the same day that House and Senate Dems release their own budget proposals, which are expected to break sharply with the White House budget plan on several issues.

The president is visiting Capitol Hill today in an effort to win over some of those dissenting Democrats. Americans United, a close ally of the White House, is taking a more aggressive approach towards the same end. Their spot will air in 11 states and Washington DC, and is aimed at Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad (D-N.D.), Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.), and other Democrats who have been critical of Obama's plans.
