Dylan Ratigan

Dylan Ratigan has left CNBC effective immediately, network spokesperson Brian Steel told TVNewser.

The New York Post's Page Six reported Friday that Ratigan had quit following a dispute with network VP Susan Krakower — though insiders deny to TV Newser that Krakower is responsible for Ratigan's exit:

"It's less about Krakower and more about him," says the source. "He wants to be the next Letterman."

Steel told TVNewser that Ratigan's departure is a mutual decision and said, "Due to the serious economic times in which we live, we made a decision that it would be a distraction for Dylan to host 'Fast Money' today."

Page Six also reported that it heard a tape of Ratigan, recorded last summer, ranting to a producer (suggesting he's been unhappy for some time):

Page Six heard a tape of highly volatile Ratigan, who also co-anchors "The Call" and "Closing Bell," ranting to a producer at a commercial break last summer: "Don't ask me to talk about every [bleep]ing e-mail that comes up on the screen. I'm not going to host a [bleep]ing TV show that consists of reading [bleep]ing e-mails to [bleep]ing traders." He then accuses Krakower of never addressing his concerns in private. "You know what, Susan, I'm in the middle of hosting a show right now, so now is an unwelcome time to hear your voice . . . If you want to pull me off the show, please do," he roars. "[You are] rude and disrespectful. . . . You lie to me routinely."

Say what you want about Ratigan.....he's one of one of anyone on the networks or cable that was calling for perp walks on wall street over this grandest of all grand larcenies we have witnessed......

I suspect some bank heavyweight had him pulled.......He was looking out for us folks......

Dylan Ratigan made "Fast Money" the most interesting financial show on TV. His departure is a MAJOR loss for viewers and the network.

Dylan was so annoying! I am glad he is gone. He was so focused on hearing the sound of his own voice it was to the point of being rediculous. And he was so rude to the guests I often wondered why they would want to be on with him- he would spend all the time flapping his lips in making some inane and protracted statement, ask the guest for comment, interrupt them and talk some more, then tell them they need to get to the point because he didn't have all day! What most other people could say in 10 words, Dylan would be sure to use 50! I am glad they finally got rid of him. Next to go should be Michelle Carrera Cabruso!

The popup email and annoying graphics on Fast Money should go. It hurts credibility. Bring back Dylan. Roll over any rock and there's a corporate weenie just waiting to be a new VP.

Looks like you are interested only in comments favorable to Ratigan. He was a narcissist of the first order, and that detracted from his business-analyst TV worth ; and for a TV anchor he violated basic tenets of public speaking, like his incessant "aah's" that distracted from anything useful he might be saying. He also talked waaaay too much, significantly intruding in and getting in the way of the reportage. As to his fans' drooling encomiums, I suppose his next venue and his performance there will help reveal his talent more fully.

What a huge loss. Dylan was one of the few that had the courage to waver from the Democratic Party's "sunshine and lollipops" fiction. I suppose we can kiss Jeff Macke goodbye, too? Apparently someone in Washington DC and the Democratic National Committee have a direct line to Susan Krakower. Are news organizations ever going to report the "news" again? I'm getting a little sick and tired of hearing and reading the scripted versions of some party's political agenda. Well done, Susan! Perhaps you kind find a seat on the "View".

Too bad for CNBC

Now more than ever the public and our ever thinning wallets demands economic news in plain english with a bit of optimism.

Ratigan was witty and entertaining, the way delivered the up to the minute information was understandable and never boring.

Ratigan at the center was an amazing smart crew and everyone shined.

Memorable are some of the guest's expressions after they got grilled on the show.

Hoffman/Krasnow you've gotta get him back !

In my opinion without Dylan Fast Money is done.  After some discussions it is also the opinion of about 10 of my friends.  I was a loyal viewer for years.  I changed the channel after about a half hour of yesterday's show and don't intend to waste my time watching it without Dylan.  CNBC is heading towards the loss of many thousands of viewers that are getting fed up with CNBC management decisions and CNBC spin news. Whether one likes Dylan or not he was the Fast Money show. CNBC/GE should fire the person responsible for Dylan leaving.

Ditto. Dylan made this show! - sure, you can tell he might be a hot head once in a while, but he was the the chemistry for this show - without him, it's not at all as enjoyable - can only watch a bit of it before it gets too boring. Wish there was something to do to get him back. Someone mentioned going on after the Rachel Madow show & that sounds like a really good idea. Or I'd vote to go on BEFORE Rachel Madow (to me she's often repeating a lot of what Keith Olbermann has already said - haven't watched either of them in a while). Hope he'll find something even better & he'll have another great show - entertaining AND educational. Personally, I could do without another David Letterman type show. Dylan seems to have the rare personality to combine business/finance in an entertaining style.

I am sad about this to. HELL NO to him going to Fox - I'd rather see him with CNN - either CNNfn or as a cohost to John Kings Sunday morning show - that show is dangerously close to Fox News like and Ratigan can pull him back to Earth. After Kudlow, John King is a flyweight.

It is a good career move to leave CNBC as the talking heads there are becoming more and more nauseating. There are three good reporters, Faber, Charlie G , and Julia Boorstein. The rest of the gang are damned to an existence that is dominated by the lovely and talented Ms Bartiromo. Or better yet the sometimes illiterate and always nauseating Ms Burnett. Good luck Dylan!

Dylan will be greatly missed, the talent pool is very weak at cnbc. Matt Nesto to be new host of fast money?? God bless you Dylan, you tolerated working with that primadonna Maria with grace and style. Hope to see you at Fox soon

I think that it is unfortunate for CNBC, they have to hope that they can creat ratings with the likes of Matt Nesto ( good luck!!). I also think that he should write a book after all of his constant rants about the present crisis. I have always had great respect for Dylan as it takes a very patient person to work with Ms Bratiromo and he has done great work on fast money. I hope that he lands at Fox and continues his good work. In the right environment that does not cow tow in fear to the spokespeople on behalf of this ragtag group of amteurs that are the present administration. I wonder if fast money will be cancelled, or will Matt Nesto become the new host?
