John Mayer

E! Online:

The way John Mayer uses Twitter, you'd think he would have nothing but high praise for the social networking phenomenon.

But no, the singer actually has some harsh words for the latest in social messaging.

"It's inherently silly and it's inherently dumb," the singer told me last night at the One Splendid Evening benefit for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation aboard the Carnival Splendor cruise ship in San Pedro, Calif. "If you really think that Twitter is the pathway to spiritual enlightenment, well...It's one step away from sending pictures of your poop."

I adore Jen and really felt for her when Jolie stole her man. However, her pick in John Mayer was so disappointing. John is not even what I would call handsome. Granted, the dude has a good singing voice and frankly I did not quite hear of him until Jen came into the picture. Also, the way he talked about his girlfirends after he broke up with them (enter Jessica) should have been a red flag for Jen. I realize dating him was a good "screw you" to Brad but she is ready to move on to more mature things. While I do not think she wants to pile on the kids to feel validated the way Jolie does, I am sure she wants to start having soem of her own. Courtney Cox and company should start setting her up with good solid guys who are comfortable in their own skin and can "complete" Jen. John Mayer is the younger version of George Clooney, an eternal bachelor that loves himself too much to share himself completely. Come on Jen, you can do it girl!

He's a tabloid hound, any true "musician" wouldn't act like that.

I am not a great fan of twitter either but I think that John Mayer is "inherently silier and inherently dumber" than twitter. Who is trying to gain spiritual enlightenment using social networking anyway? That might be his problem.

Well, I know I read too much gossip to have read this but---the rumor from Jen Aniston's camp is that she didn't want to be with him because he is obsessive about twitter. He comes out to say he doesn't even like it---trouble is---he TWITTERS all the time. So she might have a point.

My whole opinion of Aniston has gone downhill because of her relationship with this guy. He's basically a self-absorbed teenager. Now someone from his camp has run to the tabloids to say that she is obsessive about yoga and exercise. Like 6 hours a day excessive. I don't think that is as bad as choosing a loser who would approach the tabloids with that.

I wish she would realize she is a grown woman and pick a grown man--even if he comes with baggage. At our age, most people do. If he's handsome, fine, but if he isn't--fine. Marilyn Monroe had the good sense to marry Arthur Miller because he was a brainy geek with something to offer.
Why this focus on unmarried, handsome, vacant "men"?

Do you want Jen to pick someone's husband? As in Jolie ripping off her own?

Caught that. Tried to fix it but the edit showed up above the comment not below where he would have made more sense.
Yes, I meant never-married.

I just want her to start dating grown-ups.

Yep the geeks are the best... I think Jen still need to go to a nice therapist, to get over the childhood drama she hasn't set free yet. Until you love yourself, no one can do it for you. Bad choice after another..... You have to find that person you connect with. Looks fade, money isn't what's important. I think Jen should go find a nice geek and she will find inter-peace.

And really, that's all she could say was he's addicted to Twitter? Come now.

You're right, Adrienne. I do think she is repeating patterns or something. She seems to pick mates as though she is still in her 20's.
They have to look really good. They have to have never been married and not have children. No baggage. And they have to have some money or a career.
At our age, a guy without baggage might be a bit of a red flag. It might show someone who is childish or afraid of commitment.
Plus, it seems she never goes for someone with brains. This John Mayer guy seems really goofy. She was way too good for him. Any mature woman would catch on quickly that he is basically 12.

I looked at some of his "tweets" and they were nonsensical word jumbles. He comes across as hopelessly childish.

Well, John, if you don't like it, STAY OFF OF IT. I was on Facebook; quit that, and entered Twitter. I enjoy Twitter a lot.. So there....

So your point is what? twitter is just one step above facebook. That's not saying much.
