The Fox Nation: Fox News Launches New Opinion Site

Fox Nation, an opinionated Web site that launches this morning -- and really, what other network would name a country after itself? -- is based on a gut-level appeal:

"It's Time to Say NO to Biased Media and Say YES to Fair Play and Free Speech."

Biased media are in the eye of the beholder, and with a site built around such high-decibel stars as Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck, Fox is hoping to leverage its brand online, especially among conservative true believers. "We felt that giving people a real destination to go and express themselves would give them a feeling of belonging," says Senior Vice President Joel Cheatwood. "People feel they're dictated to a lot by the media."

Has anyone tried to post a comment in any of the FN forums?
I have tried several times, some a bit nasty, some immature, some serious and respectful, and none has been posted.

Not only that, but also there doesnt seem to be an update to many of their posts, the one on Jon Stewart is stuck at 334 comments for the last 5 or 6 days. I have posted quite a few on that one and nothing happens.

Kinda curious, it reminds me a bit of the M.O of Conservapedia, if they don't like it, they erase it, ignore it, etc.

I guess that is their version of a site for "people who believe in the American dream"

Their dream is to censor those who point out the obvious truth.

I believe these forums to voice opinions should be constructive to solve the many serious problems in a society gone mad. Lets look at the drug problem in society today, the teachers are advised to observe children in the classes and report to medical officials when children have certain symptoms, then the children are put on a drug, and the real underlying cause of the child's medical problem in many cases in not detected. I believe this may put the child at risk of becoming dependent on drugs for their entire life.
Concerning the pirates that have taken the Captain hostage, with all the technology I can't understand why they don't put an electrical force around the rim of the ship that will zap any intruder. I believe Fox News and their partners try to give reliable information and news. It is up to concerned citizens to join in the fight to make our country a saner, safer place. Become Part of the Solution, Not the Problem

I just came from there and it is just a site-to-see. It basically is place where they just vent their frustrations. "Obama is a fascist this and Obama is a communist that". The number of fallacies in there is astronomical and quite overwhelming. Just because you lost does not mean it is okay to abandon logic.

you people wil be the first to complain when the pay performance act gets passed. No pay for you! I do hope they include the house of represenatives and the senate. No saleries for them either. How are you going to blame Bush for this? All the flap about Fox when BoBo is destroying our country. Making us more communist than even the Europeons can stand. Then there is his cap an trade bill- taxes on your electric bill [will raise it by at least 40%], plastics, groceries, fireplaces, and animals [due to their gas]. How about the 105 million barrels of oil, that was extracted from the Bakken Formatoin in this country at the end of 2007? Where did this oil go? Didn't help with gas prices, did it? This government wants us down trodden so we will except their communist agenda. So just keep flapping about Fox till the tanks are in your front yard.

I think it's great that we now have a place to directly give information to the viewers of Fox News, who are probably good folks at heart, just not-too-intellectually-curious fans of a network that does its best to manipulate stories to promote right-wing ideologies.

If we approach the Fox Nation with that attitude, and demonstrate how a civil debate should progress, at least we'll have the satisfaction of schooling the goppers that come to Huffington Post on how internet trawling is done right, and who knows, we might change a few minds.

Yep, it's time to call right wing extremism not only legitimate, warm and cuddly, and nonthreatening to our democracy, but the norm.

How will FOX DIN manage to control the discourse and prevent the truth from emerging, anyway? Not to worry: They will find a way and, as always, they'll call it balanced and fair, so we've nothing to lose but a bit of truth here and there. And, there's no anesthetic needed...just a two digit I.Q.
