Limbaugh: Obama May Give Gordon Brown "Anal Poisoning"

First Posted: 05/02/09 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 02:10 PM ET

Wow. Whatever bet L.A. Times columnist Andrew Klavan thought he was making by daring people to listen to Rush Limbaugh and find one instance of the talk radio host saying a "single racist, hateful or stupid word" was lost today in dramatic fashion.

Limbaugh went waaaaaay over the top in insulting Gordon Brown with a mental image that one must work at to un-think about, warning that if the British Prime Minister keeps "slobbering" over President Barack Obama, he'll "come down with anal poisoning and may die from it."

[LISTEN.]

Naturally, how Limbaugh gained such innovative insight into the epidemiological vectors of saliva-borne ass toxins remains an open question.

His patrons only want him to distract enough people from bringing Bush and Cheney to justice to keep the total number of signatures under 1 Million.

I live in Los Angeles and was quite amused and ticked when I read Klavans' challenge to all Rush nay sayers to listen to him for a week. I was ticked that at his suggestion I must waste my time listening to a man whose words are worse than nails on a chalk board. But I was amused at the thought of how he was going to have to eat his words. In grand fashion Rush did not disappoint. A "slobbering" Gordon Brown complete with "anal poisoning" from Obama just proves what everyone already knows about Rush. Talk about digging your own grave. Bet on Rush and you will lose.

"Saliva-borne ass toxins"!!!!!!!!! That one will have me giggling all day!

Can you please post the entire audio clip and explain the context? Let's not do character assassination just because we disagree with a guy's politics.

Rush Limbaugh has NEVER said anything racist, stupid or hateful in his entire 20 year radio career; it's a fact. That's because he is an entertainer and therefore everything is a joke and it's your fault for not getting it. This the the favorite get-out-of-jail-free card used by Repugs and conservatives to get away with their rants. If the Dems and White House were smart, they would engage/attack Limbaugh and express shock at such comments. Keep painting this guy as the face of the Repug Party and it will serve two purposes; it will further marginalize the GOP and it will be the beginning of the end for Limbaugh, both of which would make America safer, stronger and more prosperous.

Limbaugh's fans are angry men and women. It doesn't take intelligence to be that angry.
05:54 PM on 04/05/2009
How much intelligence does it take to comment on something you've never listened to?

Where does all the arogance come from?

How can you critics claim more knowledge about Limbaugh's program, than people who actually DO listen? Since when is ignorance a badge of honor?

Amazing.

True. Taking him at his word is the key to his demise. As KO says of O'Reilly, they hate-fear nothing more than being accurately quoted.

Okay, Rush called Gordon Brown an A** Kisser.

I'm SHOCKED!

Now which was that? Racist, hateful or stupid? I think the more open-minded among us, will recognize that as a JOKE.

And all the mock outrage posted here, is from people more inclined to watch Jon Stewart, someone who regularly makes jokes far more vulgar than this.

Meanwhile, by claiming to have found an instance of "racist, hateful, and stupid" speech, you can all go back to your blissful denial, and pretend your refusal take the Limbaugh Challenge, isn't perpetuating your ignorance.

A joke? Really, you found that humorous? Where was the play on words, the unexpected presentation? It sounded to me like just another of Rush's ad hominem attacks.

People employ that tactic when they don't have any other tricks in the bag. Rush is flailing right now because he's been advocating a conservative agenda that people now realize is deeply flawed. He has, with good reason, lost credibility.

"anal poisoning" implies that the extent of Gordon Brown's A** Kissing reached a point of toxicity.

It is a joke of exaggeration. You know, like: "it was SO cold today that hookers were doing fat guys just to stay warm." (Letterman)

Where is the funny part of the Joke?

Haven't found it yet.

I watch Jon Stewart regularly, and still can't figure out what those people are laughing about.

Oh, my! And some Republicans admire this man? If this had been said by a 'blue' comedian on a late night show or to a private audience of like-minded individuals it may have gone down much better. But, this man talks in daytime to a broad audience of decent people. Very sad, that US radio has sunk to such a depth. Mr Limbaugh, you are now showing your true colors and I am sure that most Republicans don't like what they are beginning to hear from you. Power of the media can work against you as well as for you, just remember that if you want to justify your millions in contractual employment. Disrespectfully not yours.

Rush is STILL trying to be as relevant as Howard Stern!
12:39 PM on 04/04/2009
Clearly rush has taken up residence in the deaf, dumb and blind bubble vacated by bubba bush. He is shameless and devoid of adult reasoning ability. May he keep on keepin' on.
12:08 PM on 04/04/2009
People, Rush's days are numbered, he is not selling his NY condo because of high taxes, he knows that Clear Channel cannot justify his salary with slumping ratings and a stock at $2.00 per share.

He is through and he knows it.

PMSNBC? PMSNBC? PMSNBC?

This short clip wins the bet twice.

Or . . . How could anyone find it offensive to say that reporters he doesn't like must be on the rag?

Once again, the bodies of homosexuals have been exploited to push an agenda. Notwithstanding the obvious homoantagonism Rush espouses, it is important to gauge this comment within both sexual as well as racial lenses. First, Rush equivocates gay sex as the seedbed for disease and rape. Secondly, he signifies on both raced bodies insofar as the aggressor--in this case the Black President is a violent diseased buck who penetrates the innocences of his white male victim. While alarming enough, I'm not exactly certain if Rush understands that his construction categorically relegates his sexual politics (as a white male) to that of which he has signified upon- homosexuals.
02:10 PM on 04/04/2009
Wow, serious much?

If you were to actually look at the remark in the proper context, you will recognize that the President in this hypothetical scenario, would be the one getting kissed. Gordon brown might be in a subservient position, but clearly it wasn't rape.

It is rather funny watching grown men, many, leaders of a country go giddy over Obama, slobbering over him like groupies hanging on a rock star. Some look at Barak with starry eyes, like they will swoon any minute if Obama just looks their way. We see this with the American media every day but watching world leaders is hilarious! Yes, Obama is a celebrity and of course Rush understands this.
01:19 PM on 04/04/2009
I don't know how you can condone this vulgar remark of Rush Limbaugh.

If Obama is a celebrity, then what is Sarah Palin? At least Obama doesn't shamefully display his "assets" the way Palin does to make sure all eyes are on her; the tight jeans, clingy, form fitting jackets and the do-me pumps.

If he were the high school senior class president and made this kind of comment, surely he would have been taken to task. So even though he's not in high school anymore, the GOP less put him in a position of leadership and uttering this kind of nonsense is irresponsible. Sadly, no one in his party is able to tone him down. Not very reassuring. And they wonder why the majority of the country don't trust the GOP.
11:26 AM on 04/04/2009
Wow, I am assuming that his statement is the official position of the Republican Party since he is supposed to be their 'real' leader. It is amazing that with his totem out of office he is nothing more than useless wind. That might be related to anal emissions as well.
