I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Jon Stewart took on the Obama administration's rebranding efforts last night. The President has asked that his spokesmen no longer use the term "global war on terror," but instead "oversees contingency operation," and Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano recently referred to terrorist attacks as "man-caused disasters." Stewart likened this to a rebranding disaster of his own in 2003. Looks like he's not having as much trouble finding humor under this administration as everyone thought he would!

Obama is unfortunately the puppet of WallStreet, the masters in Newspeak.

It's WAR-period! Shame on Obama.

I still love him.

The problem is that there is no such thing, Really, of a war on terror. A war on terror is like a war on the use of armored vehicles, or a war on drone aircraft.

Terror is not ideological, its tactical.

A "War on Al-Qaeda" would have at least mad sense. A "War on Terror" is equivalent to a "War on Anyone that is Remotely Connected To Anyone We Say Might Maybe Want To Attack Someone Somewhere Sometime."

I have been getting something of the same sense that President Obama's tendency toward "sugarcoating" will end up becoming the popular caricature of him, in time. It's one of the few things about him that actively rankles me. I realize that he's trying to make hard truths digestible, rather than greasing a horse suppository of lies as the last admin did, but they really should keep an eye on how many trips they take to the sugar jar.

George Bush was a genious for labeling the fight against Al Queda as a "war on terror." Nothing's smarter than framing a fight in a way that you can't win.

Now I can finally see the "change" Obama" was talking about. "First we change the language..."Vladimir Lenin.

Yeah! By removing fear from the daily lexicon he is doing the opposite of every individual that has ever turned a democracy into a dictatorship (including Lenin). What a clever play on B. Hussain Obama's part! Now all the sheeple will never see his true evil plot coming. We'll all be too busy trying to solve problems instead of fixating constantly on the color coded chart of terror.

Good catch Mr. Upton, your ability to throw random quotes around without any sort of context (or citation) brings soo much to this discussion.

Accenture used to be Arthur Andersen. Xe used to be Blackwater. AirTran used to be Valujet. This is nothing new.

Jon is right... however if we change the psychology and we GET somewhere! It is true that how we define problems in our society or our mind will dictate many things - we NEED to change how we look at our problems. The GWAR has to be modified and that is what the government is trying to do. The society needs confidence again in order to right our economy.
Although it is true that changing the words or definitions alone won't help all by themselves, the psychology associated with those words does help to change perceptions globally.

Even the Washington Post is jumping onto the redifining bandwagon. They have recently referred to water-boarding as torture rather then harsh interrogation techniques as they've been calling it.
