Wonder how many dowdy Oscar de la Renta frocks in the bunch?

Here's a post incluing a poll about whether Michelle should wear Oscar de la Renta. I happen to believe that Michelle should STAY AWAY from Oscar de la Renta, FOREVER. he has single-handedly ruined the fashion reputation of too many First Ladies already.

when MO keeps it simple, it works. when she tries too hard, she falls flat. i like this look.

Good observation. Always simplicity! is a winner.

MO's face always looks pretty, as do her hands, arms, legs (from what we've seen of them), etc.

But she's like the Emperor who wore no clothes---and the people praising her for her poor choices are not her friends.

It again was lovely and humble choice. It fit in with other ladies. Was not suppose to be the 'show outfit" considering the agenda. And to the ones who hated what Michelle wore, Scar1 would have worn red for the hell of it with a split on one side. So, there!

Personally, I like Michelle Obama's dress, however, totally inappropriate for this event.

It looks like a great dress to wear to a Mexican Birthday Party.

I live in an area where are lots of Latinas. Believe me, they would not be caught dead in that ballerina skirt.

This was very flattering Michelle. You hair was lovely and the shoes were not cheap. Considering the topic: world economy and weapons globally-- the tone you set was well done. Now the Yellow outfit was one I would question. That was a bit much. Overall for the trip our First Lady looked beautiful and honored our country which is a lot more than what she wore.

Black is always formal and in good taste. So, it was fitting. NATO is a business affair not a social statement. Evidently some of you think it is "fashion week" and not time for discussing vital exchange on global issues. Again what she wore was not as important as the message sent and the diplomatic way of accomplishing the task of bringing the world back to its senses after Bush and dumb ass Chaney.

It is all about being confident and comfortable, not price competition.

IMO, it's not ever price. It's what you buy with the money you have.

I don't care if a ballerina skirt costs $2million dollars, it is still a stupid look for anyone other than a real ballerina or a littler girl playing dress-up.

Another hoop skirt w/ a cardigan and patent-leather shoes worn, not to an informal garden party, but to an evening concert, and without stockings.

All the Shopper-holics will testafy that patent-leather shoes are cheap shoes that you buy for your child who grows out of shoes every 6 months!!! No fashion diva would ever wear patent-leather shoes.

Michelle= beauty, intelligence, statuques, compassionate, but no fashion style.

You clearly donot know much about shoes are style. I can promise you that even Michelle did not get those from payless! Check out the links above. Many designers sell patent leather shoes and they are not cheap. So enlighten yourself before you try to condem somebodys tast in clothes.

Oh, the patent-leather shoes aren't a big surprise. Obviously MO is trying to wear clothes appropriate for her daugter, Easter is just around the corner, and that is usually the day where patent-leather shoes start showing up on little girls.

Madam Secretary looked gorgeous as did Mrs. Obama. Michelle is stunning!

Why is it that some people think the only 'appropriate' way to dress for this occasion would be in a plain black dress with pearls?? I don't like all of these ladies' choices, but just because they wore a colored dress does not make them inappropriate! As far as Michelle Obama or Carla Bruni wearing flats - I don't think either of these women is embarrassed about their height. Rather, I think that they are self-confident enough to want to be comfortable, but also realize that they are SECONDARY to their husband's jobs at this summat meeting. Sure, people want to look at them and see what they are wearing, but in certain circumstances, they don't want to over shadow their husband's and the work they are doing. For a glamorous evening event like the concert, they both looked lovely. I like it that our President and First Lady are both so tall! All the other world leaders are dwarfed by them- literally!!

I agree about the flats. They both have great legs and if they feel more comfortable in flats, great for them.

But I don't think it's a bad thing for the public to focus on the First Ladies. First Ladies are usually women we admire and want to emulate, at least in some areas.

MO is the first First Lady (American) I've ever seen who dressed so terribly for her role as FOTUS. Laura Bush wasn't especialy stylish, but her clothes always fit her well, were flattering to her body, and gave the aura of leadership that FOTUs actually have. HRC always looked good and sometimes smashing. Barbara Bush....moving on ..... Mrs. Carter also dressed well.

I would think most women would be honored to take on the role of FLOTUS, and would not consider it a burden to dress appropriately at public functions.

Loved Michelle's dress, shoes, jewelry and hair style!!! She looked FABULOUS!!! Now, tell me what is up with UK Prime Minister's wife Sarah Brown...tan, taupe or gold shoes...she didn't have black shoes to wear?

Oh, you're in trouble now. On this board, any PM or President's wife can wear whatever she wants and it makes her a fashion icon! a Goddess!

I am not a huge fan of Michelle Obama like most but I must say that she never, ever looked better than now. Absolutely stunning, love the hair, the dress and finally she wore decent shoes (which has always been my pet peeve with her). I have nothing bad to say...which is a rarity. Kudos all the way around!

No kidding. I would guess that the first time BO looked into her eyes, he was a goner. Might as well wrap up the guy and call the delivery man.

If the men wore interesting outfits we'd be talking about them too. The Obama's have been sensitive to these hard economic times as well. They're "footing the bill" (approx. $100,00.00) to redecorate The White House.

Considering her taste in clothing...I have concerns over what she is doing inside the WH.

Minnie Pearl is bad enough as a fashion choice--but as a style for the WH? Oh, Prunella...
