Bachmann: Obama Wants "Re-Education Camps For Young People" (AUDIO)

First Posted: 05/07/09 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 02:10 PM ET

Rep. Michele Bachmann, who has levied the most bizarre and outlandish critiques against President Obama since before he came into office, did not disappoint this weekend.

Appearing on Minnesota radio station KTLK-AM, (h/t Minnesota Independent) the Republican congresswoman expressed her concern that White House was trying to put in place "re-education camps for young people, where young people have to go and get trained in a philosophy that the government puts forward." Furthering the Obama-as-autocrat theme, Bachmann said the youngsters would "then they have to go to work in some of these politically correct forums."

Listen:

The launching point of Bachmann's remarks was the widely popular and bipartisan Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, which would expand national community service programs from 75,000 positions to 250,000.

"It's under the guise of -- quote -- volunteerism. But it's not volunteers at all. It's paying people to do work on behalf of government," said the Minnesota Republican. "I believe that there is a very strong chance that we will see that young people will be put into mandatory service. And the real concerns is that there are provisions for what I would call re-education camps for young people, where young people have to go and get trained in a philosophy that the government puts forward and then they have to go to work in some of these politically correct forums."

The Obama White House did not immediately return request for reaction. The Kennedy Serve America Act passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 275 to 149 and the Senate, by a vote of 79 to 19.

It's not funny at all.
This woman should be behind bars. She is calling for armed insurrection. She belongs in the same cell block as the terrorists she wants to keep at Gitmo.

It gets funnier and scarier each time I listen to it...

you might want to check into bachmann's past life. her political life started as candidate for school board in stillwater, mn. i was able to expose her and a few other candidates whom private schooled or home schooled. that helped her lose thel district vote. she claims to be an attorney - though research does not support that - she has apparently never been on the bar in minnesota. she has been connnected with several questionable groups - young americans for freedom (MN), and people preaching christian dominionism.
she furthered her political career lying to a congregation of "fundamentalist christians". video of her preaching to a large congregation before her run for congress, telling how she and her husband, marcus had fasted for 3 days, at the end of the three days, god spoke to her husband, told him she was to run for congress
bachmann is well funded and organized thru churches. the democrats also ran a "right to life" candidate for bachmann's seat - bad move. the political career was not a new idea to michele.
that is apparent if you are able to locate some of the old links posted on her original state of minnesota legislative website or her original campaign website from 1998.
places to search regarding her would be the Minneapolis Star and Tribune newspaper and the St Paul Pioneer Press. a favorite story of her being ambushed by crazy lesbians in a public restroom during a "townhall" meeting in scandia would be a

I fully agree with president Obama. Education and reeducation camps for young child delinquents are badly needed. ..Education is what will stop current long term crime epidemic. .. NO freedom for crime.

The part of the National Service bill that Ms. Bachmann finds so objectionable, the part that commissioned a feasibility study for MANDATORY service (yes, it was there) was removed and put in HR 1444, presently in committee. If she's gonna rant she might as well keep her facts straight.

This woman is a maniac and is dangerous!! How the people of her state voter her back in in '08 is beyond me.

I've always felt she was a little bit touched, but she has proven me wrong - she's full blown touched. I feel sorry for her family. Does she have children? If she does, please have them stay in her world, they will not fit into ours. But then again those are the folks that go balistic and we the neighbours are the ones that say........'and he was such a nice guy.'

The lede to this story says it all:

"Rep. Michele Bachmann, who has levied the most bizarre and outlandish critiques against President Obama since before he came into office, did not disappoint this weekend."

The woman is certainly delusional, and a real embarrassment to the good people of Minnesota, and anyone else anywhere in America who can put together rational thoughts. Obviously, she lacks the mental capacity to do so. The sad part is, she actually believes the idiotic things that come out of her mouth. That's really scary!! People of Minnesota, when election time rolls around again, help rid yourselves of such a train wreck and vote!! She's just absurd. Or does that make me, too, un-American?

APPLAUSE APPLAUSE APPLAUSE, are we all in the dark?
This woman is one of a a few who are really willing to look at the implications of all the behind the scenes stuff going on right now . So Please listen to her people , she may have a clue. I'm 29 , well educated , and am independent , I seek the Truth , not just what feels right , at the same time I'm peaceful , and I just really think she has valid points. and if you don't believe me research for yourself , I've included a few articles that if you really seek to be vigilant , might shed some light. And in everything there is always some Fact and some opinion , so glean what you can from it . Hooray For Bachmann

checkout PrisonPlanet.com and actually read it for some facts, I'm open to validity and facts, not opinions, but Don't just throw away peace and true safety by being ignorant and biased as well
and no I don't write and am not affiliated with anyone I just wanted to write a comment

HERE ARE THE FACTS: Bauchman's accusation is both outrageous and false. Her statements reference increased funding for Americorps, a twenty year old program that is akin to a domestic Peace Corps. The program, which has long received broad support from both sides of the aisle, gives young people an opportunity to volunteer to meet the critical needs of communities all across America, while providing them with small stipends for food and living expenses. Volunteers are currently serving in Bauchman's own district under the program. There is nothing mandatory about the program, nor is anyone "re-educated". This woman aparently mentally deranged in addtion to being an hysteric, a liar, a conspiracy theorist, and a fool.

Can't the state of Minnesota do something about this woman? I can't believe that the otherwise rational people of Minnesota want this person, who is obviously mentally incompetent, to continue representing them. Can't the legislature of MN move to have her declared mentally incompetent, by a psychiatrist and judge, and declare her seat vacant?

I've always held the citizens of Minnesota in great respect but between this very strange woman and not seating their elected senator, Al Franken, something has gone terribly wrong. Has the GOP put something in the water? (I mean waters, there are so many beautiful lakes there!)

Keep the Bachmans, the Limbaughs, the Palins coming. Give them more media airplay please. The more they express their wacked out, twisted logic, demogoguery, and own self interests on the national stage, the better the chances that the Democrats can take even more of the Congress and Senate in 2010.
