Frank Bruno, CU's vice chancellor of administration, said that while the idea is laudable, there are serious engineering challenges and a gondola line isn't in the university's plans. Bruno said the idea of a gondola was floated a few years ago, but leaders at the time researched the idea and found wind and lightning would cause disruptions to the gondola system. CU would then need to spend unnecessary money on a back-up system, he said.
