CBS is airing a 2006 Barbra Streisand concert to dovetail with the release of a Streisand DVD collection.
"Streisand: Live in Concert," airs April 25 (8 p.m.) and is taken from a show in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. during Streisand's 2006 North American tour.

well I for one LOVE Barbara and I am an old north country red neck that always likes a bit of beauty in his life and the pictures that this woman "paints" with her voice do Rembrant justice . She will live on long after us AND she are long gone.... Mike Perkins (upstate N.Y. )

Nothing against Babs, but she keeps saying she's retired like a store that keeps going out of business. Is she retired or what?
She's kept saying, that she will sing for causes she believes in. This was such case.
I can't wait to see Barbra on television again; I don't care if the program is from 2006. She's the gold standard of singers.

Gads we love her. She is just one of the most amazing women on earth - not just because she has a voice only God could bestow but a list of traits any one of us would give our right arm for: the talent to take that voice - at an early age - and catapult it into a major billion dollar career; a creativity so overwhelming we can only thank the heavens she has used it for the good of all of us; a deep love and caring for the world - so much so that she pouts herself right out there for the numbchunks to spend years potshotting her over and over. The majority of us would run like measles but not Babs. Goodness, what is she now? She just about to turn 67 years old. Lordy - you have to stand up and applaud the broad for just making it this far. Anybody remember when she sang Happy Days on the Judy Garland show? Or "When The Sun Comes Out" on Ed Sullivan? THOSE were the days! She was unbelievable and unstoppable then. How about the time she smoked a joint onstage at The Forum way back in the 70's? That's something few people talk about!
I love the old girl. Her voice remains "buddah" and if Jason is still single (and gay) I propose to him right now. What Jewish mother wouldn't want her gay son to marry a gay doctor?

Used to like you, Babs. But your South Park episode is your best "work" in many years. Obscurity is a heck of a thing for a diva.
...and going out of your way to make snarky comments on someone you "used to like" is pretty transparent. Obscurity must be a heck-of-a-thing for a$$holes as well.
Let's see... she used to be a great entertainer. Then she quit and became just another Hollywood reclusive activist/personal soap opera. Decades later she glides onto the stage to be cherished as a national treasure simply because she wants to sing for us one more time before fading into obscurity again. I pointed that out.
On the other hand, you show up, not to comment on the article, but to make personal attacks against the commenters. At least Barbra gave something positive to others before she faded. Others can make a positive change by simply fading away!

And I'm right there in back of you! I remember seeing her in "I Can Get It For You Wholesale" in previews on Broadway and listened again to "Miss Marmelstein" recently. I Saw her in "Funny Girl" a preview too and she was amazing. She came out on stage center and stood at a mike and sang "The Music That Makes Me Dance" and I was a fan forever. Most singers lose something when they get older. Streisand just gets better and better.
Geez, that must have been exciting! The first time I heard about her was from a Pan Am "Stewardess" (they weren't Flight Attendants then) who came home with my Dad (he was a Pan Am pilot) and the Stewardess told us about this amazing girl singer she had heard the night before at a little nightclub "in the village" called the "Bon Soir". I remembered her name and whenever it was mentioned I listened or watched. Ed Sullivan, Judy Garland, Jack Paar, and so many more.
And to think - she is still kicking and pumping out great music!
Never been a big fan, but the woman does have chops and can sing, unlike the computer enhanced plastic people of today.

spring can really hang you up the most, love the way she sings standars. she's unique. she is the best ever!
