PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia cable network's early morning broadcast of a Good Friday service at the Vatican abruptly changed to something wildly different _ a 30-second "Girls Gone Wild" ad.

Comcast spokesman Jeff Alexander says the 2 a.m. Friday programming glitch was due to a required test of the Emergency Alert System. He says such tests are usually done in the overnight hours.

The test automatically tunes viewers to a preselected channel that would provide information in the event of an emergency. But during tests, the channel airs regular programming, which in this case included a paid advertisement for the racy videos.

Alexander says the problem affected the network's entire local area, but only one person called to complain.

Wow, I would much rather see that sort of Emergency Alert than the awful screaming/flashing thing we usually get from Time Warner.

But in this case, shouldn't it have been "Priests Gone Wild"?

They air sexy videos (uncut) on BET just before Sunday Service every week! It literally cuts from the last video to a Preacher.

I thought they did that intentionally because the same people probably enjoy both programs. lol.

"Alexander says the problem affected the network's entire local area, but only one person called to complain."

The rest of it saw it as truth in advertising :-)

there was no bad intention by comcast. So what if people are watching TV instead of going to church. what if they were up early and on the way to church later? These idiots who insult people for being home when the ad came on are ridiculous. Should religious people stay at church all day? What if this happened later in the day, what would your answer be? That said, the dictator loves girls gone wild!!!!

That's interesting. Comcast in Tucson, AZ interrupted the Superbowl with 30 seconds from a porno. One second the woman was unzipping a man's trousers and next second the sucking commenced.

I don't believe it was inadvertent. Sadly, the only religion the MSM deems ok to insult is Christianity.

But seriously, folks. I'm not a religious person -- don't go to church on Easter, and more than any other Sunday. But I have some respect for the fact that many of my neighbors consider this to be the holiest of religious days. That's why I was rather horrified when I pursued the TV Guide today.

The mis-named Arts & Entertainment channel had non-stop shows about serial killers, MSNBC had its usual preponderance of predators, Headline News focused on current kid-killers, TruTV had killer shows including a recap of the Gianni Versace murder, and for some reason there were plenty of violent Westerns on most of the movie channels. And that was during daylight hours. What will I find tonight?

There is truly something wrong with this country.

I simply don't watch shows like that. I stay away from all emotionally predatory televison.

Frankly, I'm baffled by the call for more religious TV because it's Easter. Surely, TV at such times caters for the non-religious? If Easter is such a huge religious event for someone, then why don't they celebrate it in church, together with like-minded people? Instead of slouched in front of a TV expecting to be drip-fed it? Since the religious have somewhere to celebrate this event, it seems churlish to want to use up TV time, too, when it could be used to provide an alternative for those who don't care.

So are you suggesting that religious programming not be allowed, DKLabRat? If they have the $$ to pay for the air time, who are you to tell them they can't buy it? For now, at least, the 1st Amendment is still in effect.
