Michelle and Barack Obama have stated many times that they make date night a priority (see Michelle speak to this below).

True to their word, the couple steps out for dinner on a regular basis, and were rumored to have had a little quality time in Prague last Saturday.

The couple stepped out for a dinner date in Honolulu in August, 2008

Michelle spoke with CNN's Roland Martin about date night as "part of the reminder that this family is not just two folks raising kids, but it's two people building a life together." She then put a message out to "All the parents out there, have your date nights. It's important for kids to know that their parents are connecting."

I recall reading in Essence magazine an interview with Michelle & Barack, about the difficulties in raising a children and maintaining a home life. And the interviewer asked, "Could you every imagine being a single parent?!" And Barack Obama said, "Yes, I could imagine being a single parent".

Michelle interrupted with a "You do?" You never mentioned that to me." She was quite taken back with his response and naturally Barack smooth it over with seeing his mother and maternal grandmother raise him and blah-blah-blah.

Between Barack's comment above and Michelle's comment that their marriage isn't perfect and incorporating Date-Nights into their marriage, are indications that each partner has felt neglected and under valued, and are working very hard to keep it together. And from all indications the hard work is paying-off. We certainly don't wont them to be the First Family to divorce after the presidency, as was spectulated about JFK & Jackie.

I understood immediately why the President responded as he did. He was raised by a single mother most of his life. Mrs. Obama has been raised in an intact family environment all of her life.

This is not hard to understand...and is no indication that there marriage is in trouble.

Although you couched your comment in a sly way, your last paragraph seems to suggest that you would like to see them in marital turmoil.

It's easy to stay attracted to each other after 20 years when both of them obviously make an effort to stay physically fit. The inner chemistry is obviously there for them to have fallen in love in the first place but one of the reasons theyve lasted is theyre both still good looking. In too many marriages the husband and/or wife let themselves go so obviously their partner starts looking elsewhere for that physical attraction. To all the couples out their having problems, stay fit and your chances at making your marriage last improve greatly.
