SPRINGDALE, Ark. — Josh and Anna Duggar are following in the family tradition. Josh, the eldest of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar's 18 kids, announced Monday that he and new bride Anna were about to start their own brood. The couple, who's been married since September, said Anna Duggar is due Oct. 18.

"I am three months right now and feeling great. Morning sickness is pretty much all gone, and so we're looking forward to the birth of our baby," Anna Duggar told NBC's "Today" show Monday.

The Duggars live in northwest Arkansas and are featured on the cable TV show, "18 Kids and Counting." Michelle Duggar most recently gave birth in December, to Jordyn-Grace. Along with Josh and Jordyn, Michelle and Jim Bob are parents to: Jana, 19; John-David, 19; Jill, 17; Jessa, 16; Jinger, 15; Joseph, 14; Josiah, 12; Joy-Anna, 11; Jeremiah, 10; Jedidiah, 10; Jason, 8; James, 7; Justin, 6; Jackson, 4; Johannah, 3; and Jennifer, 2.

Josh Duggar said he and his wife haven't yet picked out a name, but are leaning toward establishing a theme with the future children's names.

"We're pretty sure we're not going to go with J," Josh Duggar said.

Josh, who is 21, and Anna, who is 20, live in Springdale, where they run a car dealership. He said he and his new wife are frequently asked whether they'll have a large family.

"We have committed leaving that area up to God as far as our family size," he said.

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar said they're thrilled to become grandparents, although the new baby won't be much older than their youngest, 4-month-old Jordyn.

"I had nieces and nephews that were about the same age as me, and it was great," said Michelle Duggar, who was the youngest of seven children. "I just enjoy growing up in a large family. I really think that Jordyn is going to have a lot with her new little friend coming."

Jesus, someone get this family into a family planning class.

They said "We have committed leaving that area up to God as far as our family size". I say take responsibility for yourself and the effects of over population on this Earth! They have said "Each child is a gift from God". Well, it's not a gift from God unless you conceive it. STOP conceiving them!

Jim Bob was in politics for a while. He tried to run again for an office in 2006.

I hope the son Josh does not have a alot of kids, and exploit them like his parents.

Okay, enough already. So you've amply demonstrated that your reproductive systems are stuck on over-drive. Give it a rest. Find another hobby.

As long as they are self supporting, I could care less if they have a 100 children.

That's just it...they are not self-supporting. They rely on donations from all over to feed and clothe the children. The children are all home-schooled. Translation: they all teach each other, since there is NO WAY mom can teach 12 different grade levels. Only in Arkansas...!
05:16 PM on 04/14/2009
One reason those children are home schooled is because if they went to public school they would need an entire school bus JUST FOR THEIR FAMILY! lol

And the Duggars are not home schooling out of any concern for the drain on the local public school, they home school because they are religious extremists who don't want their children "exposed" to the real {read; Bad, Evil] world or to other kids or people who don't believe as they do. Sad. Sad and completely neurotic.

And may I add that there is NO way parents can attend adequately to all the emotional/mental needs of that many children. In addition the older children are also placed in a position to help raise the smaller children.

Does either sound wrong to you?

Although I am 180 degrees from the Duggars politically and culturally I still like them. I think they're good people.

This posting proves to me that those here are the most intolerant and hateful people on the internet.
12:20 PM on 04/14/2009
Oh BS-What is hateful is bring another life into the world that is just a number-number 19 to be exact. If these people had any empathy or compassion-they would adopt a kid that needs a family. They are in it for the money and a spot in the limelight

Please read the article, it's the son who will be having his FIRST child. Find something legit to beef with them about, else we are just like those right wing nut cases we rightfully despise.

A baby making family.
The mom herself may end up with another.
the eighteen kids could finish with a sum of 150-180.

So much for the quality of alone time for the spouses : (

TV viewers are now a major lifestyle and financial support system for these large families. They are using enormous resources and the American TV viewer is encouraging it. They are "gifted" with expensive trips, products, and services all because of viewership. If you'll notice they are all living a bigger life than about 90% of us. Octomom is about to join their ranks and I'm sure she will have a huge audience. I'm sure they don't accept gifts that aren't tax free. The poor who don't have the means to prevent pregnancy are certainly vilified in our society. How is it that those with the education and the means who choose whether or not to procreate are rewarded and lauded so greatly.

This Quiverful cult is so creepy. Making a religion out of having as many children as possible is weird.
