Sacha Baron Cohen's gay Austrian fashion commentator Bruno did conduct an interview with Ron Paul, the Texas Congressman has confirmed, as had been reported last month.

Paul just opened up about the encounter on the radio with Curtis Silwa, and he is not pleased, as he thought he had agreed to an interview on Austrian economics.

PAUL: We were in a studio situation. I wasn't invited to a hotel room. A studio situation where they had a lot of lights burn and blaze and all kinds of commotion. They said -- better get in this back room here. And all of a sudden, I was in this room, which they had it all fixed up as a bedroom. So, getting me there was sort of dishonesty. Getting me into the interview.

I was expecting an interview on Austrian economics. So, that didn't turn out that way. But, by the time he started pulling his pants down, I, What is going on here? I ran out of the room. This interview has ended.

When this all gets out, I'm probably going to have to apologize to my supporters because I think most of them are going to figure out why in the world didn't I sock this guy in the nose?

SLIWA: You ran out. But, did you actually see the original Borat film where he pulls these kinds of stunts?

PAUL: No, no. Movies I used to see are 'Sound of Music.' Tonight, I was sitting here watching 'Gone with the Wind.' So, I don't watch that kind of stuff. And I understand he makes a lot of money. But, if he makes a lot of money, I have to permit the market to do this.

I don't like the idea that he lies his way into an interview. That to me is fraud. But, the fact that he has raunchy material and people buy into it, it's sort of sad that that is a reflection of our culture. To me, it's a real shame that people are going to reward him with millions and millions of dollars for being so crass.

SLIWA: And you know he might actually end up using that piece to promote this upcoming film.

DR. RON PAUL: That means I'm helping him make money!

Ron Paul should fire his PR guy. Maybe they should have Googled Bruno. Any PR person worth a damn, keeps up with the media and would have known that Sasha Baron Cohen was filming another movie.

Ron Paul and his staff, like many people, expect people to be honest 99% of the time. Sacha Baron Cohen intended to trick and deceive Ron Paul and his staff from the very beginning. Bruno has no last name. How do you expect anybody to come up with information by searching on a false first name?

Read (and listen) to the facts of this interview trickery on Politico and you just might find yourself as finding Mr. Cohen to be less funny than the TV makes him out to be:

Ron Paul never came close to getting 1% of the vote
his popularity is vastly overstated by his fans

Ron Paul rightly predicted the financial collapse years ago.
He compared Greenspan's policies to "a Brinks truck driving down a busy street with the doors wide open". Nail on the head.

Sorry to upset the Borat fans, but when it comes to intellect, Sacha Baron Cohen is a midget compared to Ron Paul.

Yet he can't figure out that "the market", at least in entertainment, has caused the sad culture he bemoans. You get the least common denominator when money controls art.

i sure wish Paul would have been the republican running this last election. Maybe we would have had some interesting debates and obama would have had a real challenge.

regarding the coment about pro-life. I do not understand why one can not be a liberal and pro-life belief at the same time. Heck, i"m just a sliver away from being a a full feledged communist and I pretty much have a pro-life stance. I do believe that privacy is sacred though and a woman has rights to do what she wants with her body. so, mine and possibly Paul's belief, is that a woman has the unigue right to commit murder in that she can choose.

Ron Paul is an OK guy --- give him a break -- he's a lot more relevant, rational and reasonable than: Rove, Coleman, Hannity, Gov. Perry, Limbaugh, Alan Keys ...

That's kinda like saying he's the most well-behaved two year old. He's still a two year old.

I think Ron Paul doesn't appreciate that Cohen's characters are designed specifically to expose right wing ugliness in America. Borat's provincial and oppressed mindset, his unnatural fear of "the Jews" and his radical chauvinism is a reflection of America's stoopid side and he always manages to trap his unwitting victims by pretending to be one of them. Bruno seems to be just as successful at this game.

Ron Paul is a good guy, one of the most honest in Washington. The press gives him a bad rap because their owners tell them too and the sheep follow.

Ron Paul is incorruptible...which is why the "powers-that-be" paid off the Mainstream Media in the last Pres election to smear and censor what truth that comes out from this most honest man in Congress.

Educate yourselves.

There is rather little about Sasha Baron Cohen's tactics that I would call fair.

Ron Paul is an out-of-touch old man with a lot of hipster followers. His appear is superficial in a lot of ways.
Once you do some research about what the guy actually believes in and what his voting record is, the fact that he stands on principle seems a lot less novel. Is he likable? Sure. But a lot of likable people have really bad ideas.

Plus, I just can't square his pro-life stance with the fact that he calls himself a libertarian. It just doesn't make sense.
