Jamie Foxx

Jamie Foxx took his appearance on Leno as an opportunity to apologize to Miley Cyrus for remarks he made over the weekend during his radio show.

Foxx, who said among things that the 16-year old should get a gum transplant, do heroin and crack, and catch chlamydia, told Leno is was all in the name of comedy, and that it was taken out of context.

"I so apologize to Miley, and this is sincere. I am a comedian, and you guys know that whatever I say, I don't mean any of it. And sometimes, as comedians, as we do, we go a little bit too far. I have a radio show...We're really the black Howard Stern. We go at everybody. There was a situation with Miley Cyrus, and I just want to say, I apologize for what I said. I didn't mean it maliciously. You know I'm a comedian. You know my heart. Miley, I apologize, so I'll call you. I got a daughter too, so I completely understand."

According to E!, before his appearance he had yet to reach out to Miley or the Cyrus family personally.

another thing i've noticed. when people talked about it on the view or on CNN, they were actually holding in their laughter. Whoopi and Joy wanted to laugh, you could tell. same thing with one of the anchors on another channel (forgot which one). the only people that were "outraged" were Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity...hmm....

I don't feel sorry for Miley Cyrus one bit. She makes fun of people all the time, and then people have the nerve to call her a role model. Why, because she is on stage singing on a song, or she has a show on disney. How does that make you a role model. Show me the young lady who is volunteering in low income communities or struggling in school just to make it. I am sorry, maybe Miley is doing this stuff, but all we see is her singing and the Disney show... and that makes her a role model. Please. Maybe Jamie Foxx would not have the ammunition to make the comments if Miley would stop acting like a spoiled innocent brat, and start acting like a young lady. I know she is young, and we all have done things at the same age because we were teenagers, but can we all say that we are on a Disney network making load of money, acting like we are a role model for the next generation. So no, I don't feel sorry for Miley. I mean she likes to act older than what she is... she can take it. Don't try to be a little kid now.

Are you serious? Well last I checked acting like an adult does not make you and adult! Imagine if you have a teen daughter, and all of a sudden a grown man stops by her high school and makes terrible remarks about her and picks her looks apart over the loud speaker while all of her friends listen, would you be okay if he said he was sorry, but he was just trying to be funny? Of course not! Now, times it by thousands, that is what this sick individual did to this girl! There is not excuse, no apology will ever be good enough. Some people are quick to say she does this she does that, she acts like a grown up, but that does not make her an adult! Maybe Jamie should use her as an example, clearly he has no idea what being an adult is, because he sounded like a 16 yr old loud mouthed bully! On top of that, you just have to ask yourself how someone who looks like him would ever think he had the right to make fun of the way anyone looks? For real, from the neck up, he is a train wreck,and go ahead and be mad at me for saying it, but I am an adult saying it about an adult! I am not saying it about a kid! I know I would never waste my time to watch anything he is in ever again!

First of all. Yes I am serious. And I still do not feel sorry for Miley. You are right, if I had a teenage daughter I would be mad. But I am not talking about Billy Ray, I am talking about Miley. She does need to grow up. She is no role model. And I think that she should not be on the disney network. And if I had a daughter, there would be no way I would let her listen to Miley Cyrus, watch her show, buy her music, etc. There are plently of other younger role models who are more suited to be role models for the younger generation. Was Jamie Foxx's comment wrong. Yes. but i do not feel sorry for her. she has enough people worshipping the ground she walks on, why add one more. I think she will live and get over it.

Oh and your comment about Jamie Foxx. It is okay to make fun of someone looks as long as they are above 18. And I don't have to like the actor to enjoy the movie...If they have talent.

at what age is it ok to make fun of the way someone looks? you make no sense what so ever.

if say Bow Wow would have said something about another rapper when he was 16 and a comedian would have commented on it, made fun of his looks and made the same type of remarks you wouldn't have cared one bit.

If Jamie would have made fun of Jamie Lynn Spears would you have been as outraged? Or what if it would have been the little Gotti kids? or the osborn kids? hypocrisy is ugly...

also you're making fun of Jamie's looks. funny thing is that i listened to that whole episode and in that same show he himself made fun of the way he head and face looks. and he went in details.

I think Foxx showed a lot of class with this apology, which for once was an ACTUAL apology, and not the non-apology apology celebs and politicians are so keen on giving (the "I'm sorry if anyone was offended" line).
He actually looked into the camera and said "Miley, I'm sorry for what I said. I apologize. I went too far."

It's refreshing to hear an actual public apology for a change.

    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:23 AM on 04/17/2009

How many people involved in his public relations do you think it took for him to give that apology followed by all of his excuses??

    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:44 PM on 04/17/2009

In the name of comedy? So it will be ok to demean his daughter and call her out of her name all "in the name of comedy?" How are his comments any different from Don Imus's comments about the Rutgers basketball players? As a female, I feel both remarks are more than disturbing. Young woman, famous or not, have enough to deal with in life. Idiotic comments like those made, especially "in the name of comedy", only hurt his image more than they will make people laugh.

That's not what he said and you know it.

How is this different from Imus, you ask. Well, quite simple, really (and you should know if it you actually knew what you were talking about and not just knee-jerking). Imus has a history of racism and sexism, and while his cranky manners can be amusing, he should never be confused with a comedian. Jamie Foxx is a comedian who has never been accused of sexism, who as he himself said "went too far" and sincerely apologized for it.

Stop trying to make this into something it isn't. Yes, what he said was crude. Even he thinks so.
Also, when Imus said his stuff was a joke, he offered a non-apology apology (the "I'm sorry if anyone was offended" crap). Like I just said in another post, Foxx's was the real deal. An actual Mea Culpa.

I could not agree more, and what about Michael Richards? Jamie is no differant aside of that fact that his trash was directed at a child! So I guess that would mean people should be more upset with him. Anyone who thinks anything he said was funny has as many issues as he does!

    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:46 PM on 04/17/2009

He considers himself a "Black Howard Stern". That's the only funny thing he has ever said.

Well, he is just as unattractive as Howard Stern, so I guess that is kind of funny too!

Here's what Foxx was thinking...."Oh I have a movie coming out....I want to make money, so I will give a weak apology on Leno."

Jamie Foxx making jokes about Miley is not going to mess with his career. Jamie is an Oscar award winning actor, Miley is a Disney star who might not even be around in five years. Noone that appeals to Miley (10 year olds) would be trying to see one of Jamies movies..if Jamie didn't want to apologize, trust that he wouldn't have, and would care less...he apologized because he wanted to.

If you are really funny, you don't have to resort to crude, insulting comments about women, never mind a young girl. Foxx isn't a class act. He is just sorry because he is being criticized. . . he only hurt himself.

Hurt himself how exactly? Majority of people were laughing and some of the ones who said that he should at least apologize were holding back laughs. Maybe if Jamie was a Disney star, like Miley, maybe he would have some damage control...but the fact that Jamie is on a whole other level from Miley, people are taking the apology and moving on.

I wonder if Miley is going to apologize for what she said about Radiohead (which is why Jamie and co. started talking about her in the first place) or if she will apologize to her young fans for posting pictures of herself in her underwear on the Internet.

Showed your true color this time.....

Couldn't get any more low class than that.

Sounds a little like jealousy to me...because she is getting more attention than Foxx.
And who were the other guys on his show who were adding their 2 cents.

He claims their was no malicious intent, BS he intended it to be malicious and funny, he was wrong about the funny part, at least to me. I don't find it funny to verbally or physically attack a kid ever, but maybe that is just me.

the whole "boycott the movie" is stupid... how many Jamie Foxx/Robert Downey fans are Miley fans?

It's like Miley bashing Radiohead... Miley fans are 13 and have no idea who Radiohead is.
That's why this whole thing is a joke.

I don't need to boycott, because I was never interested in the movie in the first place. There are too many of those kinds of movies. It is the same formula

Person has a lot of talent
Person has a disease, or problem, ect.
Person get help from someone who cares
We all cry
They either succeed in the end or they fail

Seen it before, not spending $10 a ticket to see it again.

The people that are claiming they will "boycott the movie" are more then likely people that weren't going to see it anyways. People have moved on and Jamie and/or Robert Downey Jr. will more then likely get nominated for Oscars for this film and Miley can continue singing to her audience of 10 yr olds...everyones happy :)

I don't think you need to be a Miley fan to boycott the movie. It has nothing to do with being her fan! It has to do with knowing he crossed a serious line and showed people what he is really made of! That is the reason he should be boycotted. He is pathetic!

lol at boycotting a movie over this. Society is truly lost. All the negative images on MTV and Radio. Nike enslaving little kids in sweatshops, and you want to boycott The Soloist because Jamie made a joke about her gums and made fun of poptarts of this generation?

i think people today are so desperate to prove to others (and maybe to themselves) that they're making a difference that they start these phony causes fueled by phony outrage.

Nike = Cool
WalMart = Cool
Jamie = boycott

makes perfect sense...

She may not be a little girl, but she is a child! Being famous does not mean you should be subjected to pigs! Maybe he is targeted because he wants to be famous, I think if he does not want the heat he is getting maybe he should give up his career if he doesn't want the backlash he is getting for his crude mouth! Someone should shove an entire box of wash soap down his throat!
