YouTube Symphony Orchestra To Perform At Carnegie Hall

The YouTube Symphony Orchestra will perform live at Carnegie Hall Wednesday evening, an exciting milestone for a project hailed as "a first for the music world."

The orchestra, whose 96 members hail from more than 30 countries, was selected from over 3,000 YouTube auditions last month.

Wednesday, after just three days of rehearsal with San Francisco Symphony Orchestra music director Michael Tilson Thomas, they will perform on one of music's grandest stages.

Reuters reports on the songs they will perform:

Their performance will include works by Gabrieli, Bach, Mozart, Brahms, Villa Lobos and John Cage as well as Internet Symphony No. 1 "Eroica," written by Tan Dun, the Oscar-winning Chinese composer of the film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."

A video of Wednesday's performance will be uploaded to the video site Thursday.
