Tree Grows Inside Man's Lung (VIDEO)

ABC News:

Doctor in Russia performing surgey on a cancer patient found a 2-inch fir tree growing inside his lung.

The tree was discovered when they opened up the 28-year-old patient to prepare for the surgery, reports ABC News.

ummm, no. that actually isn't possible. especially for it to be green in the photo. what i mean is this: it's green in the photo, therefor it was exposed to sunlight while growing (green is chlorophyll)... that means it grew OUTSIDE of his lungs.

more likely, somehow he inhaled a small piece of young branch which was kept alive by the moisture in his lungs until removed. once the small branch sprout had developed chlorophyll on the tree, it was able to retain the green (evergreen) after he'd inhaled it.

all i'm saying is it's not possible for it to have sprouted from a seed in his lungs AND be green. (i'm not saying it couldn't've sprouted- anything's possible! but to grow in his lungs, without sunlight, it would be white. (and dead.) )

ok, enough. sorry about that! plant geek went a bit pontificatey there. ;)

I am not a radiologist; but commen sense and a basic understand of x-ray ( and that is not a CAT or MRI) would tell anybody the tree doesn't show the same density as bone (the ribs) AND that (mysreiously) part of the rib cage is missing.

besides; scientist yesterday on HP stated with finality that a human would be long dead due to infection If nothing else) before a living foreign object could "prosper" withing a living organism.

Another "urban myth" like cockroahes living inside "you know what" in women or our ears.

The real story here is human gullibility and the media that manipulates it. Follow the trail: On 04/16/2009 ABC airs a film clip of a fully developed fir twig poking out of a "man's lung" complete with insect flying in from the right and crawling across the bloody tissue. Two days earlier the story has already reached critical mass on the Internet. But the story is first reported by Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper on 04/01/09. April Fools.

Seedling can sprout without sunlight, of course, but it couldn't grow this big without sunlight.
