If you folks have been following Democracy for America - which began as "Dean for America," when Dr. D was running for the office of the President -- you would know that he is currently working on getting basic, NON-COMMERCIAL health care as one of the options on the table.

Candidate Obama said that a single-payer national health care system was one of the possible options. As soon as he was elected, the for-profit medical/pharmaceutical industry began pumping big $ into lobbying. The Obama policies are starting to look more and more like 'let the government pay for insurance."

Americans do not need insurance. Americans need health care. A single-payer system could cut out the for-profit middlemen (and the insurance CEOs making multi-million bonuses by 'cutting costs' and denying live-saving treatment).

Howard Dean is trying to make sure that Americans get a chance to get health care that we can afford. No, national healthcare is not a perfect solution - but national health plus supplmental works in most civilized countries -- and it's better than 50 million Americans without any coverage at all.

I see the Dean ditto head worshipers are out in full force - AGAIN.

Dean Democrats aren't dittoheads... too much independent thought is required.

The 50-state-strategy was the key in out maneuvering the Diebold vote-fraud machines.

Dittoheads? How dare you. You following behind Rahm without questioning anything he does...who's the dittohead?

I love Howard Dean. To me, he's a true, old-fashioned, quintessential liberal. There aren't that many of us left :).
09:00 PM on 04/19/2009
I hope you know the doctor is against gun control, and OK with the fact that he was endorsed by the NRA when he ran for governor in VT. And that he governed as a conservative, blue-dog Dem, driving the liberals here nuts.
02:14 AM on 04/20/2009
And he was elected... how many times? Six, wasn't it?

Abortions down 45% due to birth-control education?

Sounds good to me.

Howard Dean is a unique politician. He's smart, practical, and genuinely has the public's interests at heart. He's a good man who deserves to be acknowledged for a job well done while chair of the DNC. And, he was my personal favorite to be Secretary of Health and Human Services.

I'm sorry but Kaine was a poor choice to replace Dean, and Dean should have been the healthcare guy, he cares about Americans healthcare, not so sure Rahm gives a rat's patoot about Americans.

Your comment makes absolutely no sense. . .

Kaine was a poor choice? Why? Specifics, please.

Dean should have been the "health care guy" - why? Because he's a former doctor?

Rahm doesn't give a . . yeah - what difference does it make about Rahm as his thoughts about health care for Americans? And specifically, what actions have you seen from Rahm to indicate he doesn't care about health care for Americans?

Can't wait to see SPECIFICS.

Rahm's out of his league, can't wait for his retirement.

Having a doctor run the HEALTH and human services department...

You don't see the logic in that?

Rahm Emanual has a lot of good qualities, but I wouldn't call him in a medical emergency.

You might not be owed a job in the contact sport of politics, but you are owed respect when you deliver party victories in states where Democrats haven't been competitive for a generation. Rahm might be effective at his job, but he's a petty grudge-holder. He's extending an olive branch to Dr. Dean now because he needs his help on health care legislation. Gee, Rahm, you should have thought of that when you were handing out the HHS job.

What has happened (examples please) to make you believe Rahm needs Dean for help on health care legislation?

Specifics, please.
02:17 AM on 04/20/2009
What experience does Rahm Emanual have in health care?

You're arguments make no sense.

Why not take President Obama's lead and stop manufacturing conflict? Go watch a damned ball game if you have to have the win-lose mentality.

Dems need to work together.
06:59 PM on 04/18/2009
Dean should bury the hatchet right in Rahm's back. This whole feud came about because Dean bucked the Z Oh Good establishment that Rahm wants to see run the DNC. Dean showed that the party could raise money and organize beyond the traditional core and Rahm had to punish him for that. Shows what speaking up against Israel will get you!
02:19 AM on 04/20/2009
Yes, Dean has been dissed repeatedly, but burying the hatchet in Emanuel's back is the kind of spiteful in-fighting that the Democratic Party -- and America -- DOES NOT NEED.

Fight the Republicans.

Howard Dean should be appointed FCC head where he could torture Rupert to know end.

OK, kiddies, now that you 2 have made nice, get medical care for all Americans made into law, stat. Do it for Harry Truman, America, yourselves, whatever but do it now.
Talk about a job for Howard--after medical care for all Americans is law & working for all Americans. Is that ok with you, Howard; how about you, Rahm? Good.\

Obama needs some guys who can run the ball... Dean's one of them.
05:57 PM on 04/18/2009
Dr Dean know where the goal posts are in addition to beaing able to run, recover fumbles & catch passes. He also can take the ball as the center snaps it to him & he has a strong arm for making accurate passes. There are Democrats who often do not know which of the 2 goals they must reach to make a touchdown; frequently these politicians are called DINOs.

Typo: know should be knows.
10:24 AM on 04/18/2009
Dean is closer to Obama admin. than people know. Because of some of his lobbying, he has to appear at a distance. Watch how the great doctor slowly evolves into a large position.

Now when are Obama and his lackeys going to remove the hatchet from Jimmy Carter's back?
09:58 AM on 04/18/2009
Jimmy Carter is not a team player. Neither side is motivated to remove the hatchet.

Thanks for the answer. The words of the late Will Rogers are still correct; Will said, "I don't belong to any organized political party. I'm a Democrat.".
