Republican Congressman Mark Kirk was excoriated for saying that Illinoisans are so angry over Gov. Pat Quinn's proposed income tax hike that they're "ready to shoot anyone who is going to raise taxes by that degree."
Kirk said Thursday that he stood by his comments. Fox Chicago has since made complete video of his remarks available and Progress Illinois writes that "it's worth noting that the comment came amid a metaphor about soldiers storming machine gun nests."
