A new poll out Friday shows that, should Texas Gov. Rick Perry decide the time is right for his state to secede, he might not have much support. Seventy-five percent of Texans would like to stay in the union, according to Rasmussen. However, a sizable minority would be with him: 18% would vote to secede, and seven percent are not sure what they'd choose. And a full 31% of Texas voters believe that their state has the right to secede from the United States and form an independent country if it wants.

We here in Texas do not need the US and it's problems. I am 4th generation Texan and have always thought Houston and And. Jackson were wrong. So lets get out ASAP. We can do very well with a tariff on refined products leaving the Republic. Oh, we want the original borders with the deal, part of New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma and Wyoming. This was the best thing Perry has done yet, with this suggestion, I think he would make a good President of the Republic of Texas

First of all it is illegal for 'any state' to secede from the union.

Secondly - Over 3.5 million Texans voted for Obama, more than any other state other than New York and California. There are a lot of progressives in Texas.

If you do not support all 50 states of OUR UNION then perhaps YOU should move to another country.

25% of Texans polled would either agree to secede or aren't sure how they would decide.

26% was the consistent approval rating range, +/- 2%, of FORMER President Bush

Now, would anyone care to speculate on how many of the 25% are also included in the 26%?

Oh my, what a glowing future it is that both of these groups have ahead of them.

no poll necessary... we will be happy to leave the United Socialist States of America! We will continue with the founding fathers principals of individual freedom ,and checks and balances in Government. We will continue with a Government of the people for the people and by the people. We will have a Government free of Czars, free of appointed judges who legislate from the bench(as opposed to elected judges who can be fired if they go too far in either direction). We will have a Government Free from nationalized government owned banks, and nationalized Auto industry. In short, we would have a government much like the one the rest of America has moved away from.

Gail Collins of the New York Times wrote an excellent article, "Twitters From Texas," this past weekend that examines Tex Gov. Rick Perry and his throwing around the word secede. "Twits from Texas" would have been a more appropriate title.

I say let them go, then we won't have to deal with Perry or Bush or any of the other idiots who inhabit that nasty state. Let the go, or force them out that's o.k. with me and any other state that is foolish enough to think it can make it on it's own you go right ahead on secede that's fine to. I don't want anyone is this country that talks that way. Just leave if you don't like it. FINE BY ME. I'm just now getting over the feeling of the past 8 years of crap let the texan's leave they are part of the crap.

I am a proud texan and united states citizen however, I do not agree with Governor Perry. His comments were idiotic and makes our state appear illiterate for electing such a fool. ( I did not vote for him and will never vote for him) Please don't let this man make you think badly of us. I believe Perry and his tea bagging friends are pissed off because we have a real man in the White House and they cannot stand it. I hope that our state will see the light.

Well that's encouraging. Only one out of every four Texans would like to seceed from America-- I'll bet they are all self proclaimed "patriots". I would guess that none of them has spent two minutes contemplating the consequences of such an action.
