Thursday's Late Night Round-Up: Teabaggers, America's Farewell To Texas, And India's Sham Election (VIDEO)

I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Late Night

Jon Stewart kept after the tea partiers last night mocking the hypocrisy of the right using babies, celebs, and musicians to promote their cause when they taunt the left for the same behavior. Colbert, on the other hand, mocked Minnesota, saying:

"Today voting began in India's Parliamentary elections, and I am sad to say these elections are a sham, folks. The voting lasts a month. That means Indians won't know the results of their election until May 16. By then we'll probably know who's the next senator from Minnesota."

More from Jimmy Fallon on Freudian slips and David Letterman on Texas' succession below.

I look forward to these every weekend.

Am I the only 1 to notice that when the republicans were in power, they were fodder for the comedians.
With the democrats in power, the republicans are still fodder for the comedians.
It's not that all the comedians are liberals.
The republicans are so far over the top - they always amuse.

Remember Florida recount?.. think about what's going on in MN Senate seat and NY congress elections.
Now everyone have their own defects. So this seems like throwing stones from a glass house.

Blago was taken care of by the good left-leaning people of his state, he's likely headed for jail
When is your side going to clean house?

A tidbit from news busters:

Here's a rare sight: A host of a major television show forcefully defending the Bible and central tenets of Christianity. It happened recently on Comedy Central's The Colbert Report, when host Stephen Colbert - in his own inimitable way - rebutted the assertions of Bart Ehrman, a self-described "happy agnostic" who has written a number of books attempting to discredit the Bible and the central beliefs of Christianity.

Silly wingnuts can't tell when Colbert is playing them. LMAO

(What'n'ell is LMAO?) Seriously, if you want readers to understand what you are saying, would you please write it out? It would hardly take more than two seconds of extra energy, would it?

Calling Indian Elections as a sham is highly OFFENSIVE considering India is one of the biggest and longest surviving democracies. In India people are considerably more aware of the political process comparable to western world. I know India do have corruption and related things but they have a effective legal system and a respect for constitution. I beg you not to discredit yourself by calling Indian Elections as Sham.

Its a comedy show for heavens sake. Lighten up.
Get your facts right. 1. its definitely not the longest surviving democracies (its been independent and democratic for little over 50 years). 2. Its legal system is one of the most ineffective in the world. and Respect for constitution? who? people or politicians? can you name some politicians including its ministers who knows the constitution ? did you see the constitution book of india? it has close to 500 pages and over 100 amendments. you need an army of people to know it in and out. No Wonder Chief Justice of India himself cannot recite the constitution without reseach first.

Colbert mocked India, and very unfairly. Making fun of some other country's election system needs care and consideration, and correctness.
In his defense, the actual target of his joke was Minnesota.

Points off for bad aim and unnecessary collateral damage. . . the Joke is a minus.

Folks, Obama rocks, and he will have this country on track in two years and then the Pubies will have their undies in a real twist for sure! What goes down, does come back up and so will the stock market. Once the rules are laid out and the new regs are clear, there will be stability once again. I heard Obama described today as being like a brain surgeon who is called upon to revive a comatose patient, with terrorists standing in the operating room, threatening all to blow it up. He has taken on a huge mess from Bush and that is the story we have to remember. He is not fixing "his mess" but Bush's and it was totally rubber stamped for the last eight years by the far right Republicans in the House and the Senate. The teabaggers are frauds because they never raised their voices to the financial havoc and ruin that Bush/ Cheney/Republican party pushed this country into. Give credit where it is deserved and criticism where it is deserved.

Speaking as a Texan, I am ashamed to have a governor with the smarts of Jethro Bodine and the finesse of Gomer Pyle representing this great state. Perry makes even Bush look like an enlightened being. People of Texas, it is time we started paying more attention to our elections.

I think putting "india's sham elections" in the headline is a little misleading.
It does take one month to make 700 million people vote - especially when 40% of the areas are reached by helicopters and not by road.
While its perfectly appropriate for Colbert to poke fun at that, putting India's sham elections in a headline could give the wrong impression to a viewer who doesnt read the entire post.

What a riot. The last I heard of her I was living in Texas in the mid-90's and she made the news because she was pregnant with the child of Jerry Jones' son. For the uninitiated, Jerry Jones is the owner of the Dallas Cowboys. She wasn't married to the son...just pregnant with his baby. I don't think she's ever married...just another Republican hypocrit who wants to tell you whom you should marry and what you should do with your body while she follows her own rules.

So basically the right wingers are basically copying the protesting tactics of the left wing from a few years ago ...

And Glenny Beck has the gall of accusing this administration of not knowing history and being bound to repeat mistakes ...

I see ...
