Michael Emerson Reads "Little Boy Blue" (VIDEO)

Michael Emerson

Michael Emerson went on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" recently to promote the two-hour finale of "Lost" that airs on May 13. While there, Fallon asked the actor to read a nursery rhyme in his typical creepy-as-all-hell demeanor. It was awesome.

Emerson, best known for his Emmy-nominated role as Benjamin Linus on "Lost," certainly plays the chill-inducing character with skill enough to make the audience suspect he might really be evil. This video will do little to assuage those fears.

"Little Boy Blue" was an inspired choice due to it's vaguely threatening nature, and short-enough-not-to-make-you-wet-your-pants length.

I remember him from guest shots on The Practice, and he was great then, and still great now. The "Bit" of reading from a childrens book and being creepy, or terrifying, has a long tradition.

Orsen Wells. Vincent Price, Peter Lorie, and Boris Karloff all did it as a gag....and it still works.

Michael Emerson is brilliant. And JiveTurkeyOnRye is kind of an idiot.

You are the man Benjamin Linus!

Truly one of the most gifted actors in television and film today.

Yes, you clearly respect him, which is why you're referring to the actor by his character's name.

The "creepiness" of Lost knows no bounds...now its on late night...I have no idea where LOST is going...
does the name signify the show or the viewers?? But I LOVE IT...as I did BattleStarGalactica...

"Little Zooks, of whom no-one was fond,
they launched towards the roof and beyond,
the infant's trajectory,
took him over the rectory,
and into a lily-choked pond"

Edward Gorey (who does creepy nursery rhymes really well)

Emerson is a great actor. He is so evil as Ben in "Lost". He manages to be dead pan funny, super creepy, and utterly convincing. "Lost "is such a fabulous show!

Nice! Brilliant idea for once Fallon.

Fallon stole the idea. Do a search for Crispin Glover and Little Miss Muffit. CREEEEEPPPPPYYYY

I doubt he "stole" the idea, it's very plausible he came up with it independently, "Hey, here's a creepy voiced guy, let's have him read a nursery rhyme or other not-intentionally creepy item."

It's a fairly common premise. Conan made David Bowie sing "Hickory Dickory Dock" in his Bowie voice once, John Malkovitch read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" on SNL, etc. It doesn't mean it isn't funny to have someone else do it.

That's pretty good! Crispin Glover could have been cast in Benjamin's role and worked out pretty well.
