The 33-year-old actress was seen carrying around the book 'War of Necessity, War of Choice: A Memoir of Two Iraq Wars' by Richard N. Haass, during her breaks filming on the New York set of her latest movie Salt.

Far from being light reading, the book, part history, part memoir, provides a complex and in depth theory of how the United States can apply the lessons learned from the two Iraq wars so that it is better positioned to put into practice what worked and to avoid repeating what did not.

I have taken a break from the Entertainment section for awhile because of articles such as this.
Anyone who can find any virtue in the Iraq war needs their head examined. She is her father's daughter, I suspect.

A book written by the President of that bastion of intelectual neutrality, the CFR, and praised by the Wall Street Journal.

She may have fallen out with her father, but they still share that fuzzy right-wing feeling...

Geez, I hope Brad and the crew are helping her with the big words.

I believe the operative phrase here is "was seen carrying around."

Yes. Like one of those diaper-clad photo-ops she collects. Carrying around doesn't equate to reading anymore than it does to parenting.

I would be more stunned if she was reading a book about food and the joys of eating.

Julia Child + Angie = No Way, Jose.

Happycat, did last night really happen or was it just a bad dream? It has all been swept away.

It almost gave me pause to step away...

The only diet book she'll be reading is the Liquid Lemonade (*coughMethcough*) Diet.

She may very well be reading the book, but let's face it the lady's shrewd, and knows just what sort of things to do to continue to drive (read: manipulate) the media/popular narrative about her. And it often works.

Exactly, Banji81. Just like when Brad popped about NOLA with Pres. Obama's memoir.

When Brange drew and uncomfortable heat for not endorsing Barack Obama, BP was suddenly caught holding up the President's gorgeous memoir to the cameras. It is sheer manipulation. Really, does anyone know what Denzel or Meryl are reading?

A picture tells a thousand words? Maybe sometimes but not always.

I'm reading Columbine by Dave Cullen. Where's my mention?

Seriously, this is almost as lame as your constant stories about Suri Cruise.

Who cares!!

Hello RavenHawk23,

I am reading Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin.

I am 54 pages from the end. It seems like I have been reading it for the last couple years...

President Lincoln sure was a very gifted person, been a very interesting read.

T/C Curt

Might I suggest "Lincoln at the Gates of History," by Charles Bracelen Flood? A far superior read.

Hey CurtTx53,

Team Of Rivals is an EXCELLENT book. It does take forever to read, but it was well worth it.

She needs to that put that establishment propaganda written by a puppet for the super-elite CFR down and pick up a real book by someone who actually had the NERVE to go to war--like Smedley Butler's War is a Racket.

As relevant now as when he read it.
