"American Idol" still has five singers left in the competition. But acid-tongued judge Simon Cowell has already decided who he would like to see in the final round next month.

"I'd ike to see Adam (Lambert) and Danny (Gokey) in the final because they are the best two singers," Cowell told reporters at a TV industry event in Los Angeles on Friday.

I think someone should tell Simon to take that raccoon off his head.

If Danny Gokey makes it to the final two, this thing is obviously fixed. I have not met a single person who thinks Danny should still be in the competition. Adam? Okay. I'll give you that one. He's pretty great as far as American Idol contestants are concerned. But Danny Gokey? He should have been out in the first Hollywood round. Seriously. Who votes for this guy?

Really? I know tons of people that LOVE Danny. I guess it just depends on where you are.

Let me preface by saying I don't watch AI but tuned in the first night because there were nothing but reruns on. I liked Danny the first night but he never grew from that point. Adam Lambert seemed already there, if you will, and I agreed with Paula In that it was a surprise to think he hadn't been signed yet.
Then I tuned in each week just to see what Adam would do next. I felt he was true to himself with his version of Ring of Fire and Mad World is utterly compelling. Smokey Robinson said it all when he stood for Adam after Tracks of My Tears. The point is, Adam makes you want to see more; to see what he'll come up with next.
He is a presence on stage, skilled and at ease. His personal life is his to do with as he chooses, it doesn't involve me and I would not presume to judge. I can see his parents cheering him on with such pride and rightfully so. He has worked hard from childhood and remained true to himself for many years. The man has looks, presence, an incredible style and voice. I could easily see him in films, too. I see Adam Lambert as a defining influence on the music industry in the future.

Please. Adam isn't that original. I can tell you what he's going to do next: he screeches an upbeat song one week, then the next week he sings a ballad. He's not that special to me.

Adam should have stage presence, he's been working on Broadway and theater for YEARS. The others are all true novices who are trying to get their start. Oh, except for Matt, he's been performing in bars for awhile.

Adam will not be a "force" in the industry, lol. He's like Taylor Hicks, someone who is interesting on the show and then pretty much forgotten six months later. I do agree that he should try acting instead of a music career. He's quite good looking, he just needs to do something about his skin.

"think outside the box" i never thought of it like that before---

danny suxs he has no talent..he has as simon says no originality..it needs to be Alison and adam!!!
10:25 AM on 04/27/2009
Danny Gokey sux! There's nothing original about him at all....and it's obvious Simon wants him on the show...all the constant praise (even though Gokey is nothing but a copycat singer). And now the judges are scared to critique him because of the bloggers. LOL

Gay Elvis? Who said that?

Adam has the mustard to win this. Danny is like mayonnaise and when you leave it out too long you get sick to your stomach.

Right on!

Actually, Adam is like a magnum of Salon Blanc de Blanc against Danny's thimble-full of Boon's Farm.

I would like to see Adam and the little redhead do a duet......I think she will be going places. Simon hated Adam's 'Ring of Fire'..........I thought it was fabulous. This guy has everything. David Cook and Daughtry were the most talented arrangers of their groups, but Adam has the voice of a rock and roll angel and avante guard arrangements that make him head and shoulders above them all. It doesn't matter if he's in the final (which of course he will be). He is going to go big places. Like Paula said....why hasn't anybody scooped him up yet?

I would love to hear Adam do "My Way" on the Reat Pack show. It would be a great song for Danny, too.

Some mentally limited folks out there are concerned that Adam Lambert is too "gay" to really represent what American Idol is all about (it is a FOX show, after all).

To them I say this:

Sure, go ahead and vote for Danny or Kris. They both come from more traditional church backgrounds. They will not surprise you or cause you think unclean thoughts of any kind. They will not challenge you to diversify. They will not bring any new ideas or styles into your car stereos or living rooms. They will not stretch themselves or their music beyond what you already know.

If you are content with the quality of music being commercially promoted these days, then Danny or Kris are for you.

I will vote for Adam, because I support artists who challenge themselves and their audiences with new sounds, new approaches, and above all...artists who push music FORWARD. This is where true artistry is shown. Danny and Kris do not offer anything new, but hey...they can keep a tune and can lead your kids in a rousing rendition of Michael Row Your Boat Ashore...Hallelujah!

Norwegiano....You hit the huge obvious nail on its stupid little head!
Adam is going to CHANGE music for our time, for our kids!
The originality he throws in to EVERY song he performs makes me feel...happy.
I look forward to him, and only him, all week.

Honestly, Danny needs to clear his throat, I think hes just annoying and the thing Kris does with his mouth when he sings is so ugly and disfiguring, I cant bare to watch!

But Adam makes me hot from head to toe, and I know he is gay, and I love him anyway.
SO, I just had to tell you I LOVE what you so eliquently wrote. Wish more people thought like you!
CHANGE IS GOOD!!!

I thought you had to be gay to win this thing. Oh wait. Clay Aiken didn't win.

Heck, every Hollywood star/musician is gay at one point or another. How else do you think contract negotiations are made?

Of course Adam is in the finals. He is a cultural phenomenon, and will no doubt reach "icon" status, provided his edge isn't tampered with too much by the studios. Danny may have the next best voice, as Simon says (no pun intended) but Kris is the more likely runner-up, with Adam the clear winner, regardless if he gets the title.

Adam has the best voice, probably in the history of the show. And as someone who has studied voice and music for 30 years, I feel qualified to judge this. Those are not screams, as so many people seem to think. Every note he sings is carefully chosen and executed, I promise you. Few people in the world can do what he does.

But if that wasn't enough, he has artistic intelligence that so many current acts are lacking out there. Every song he performs is exactly what the audience needs to hear, even if they don't know it. True vocal artists sing songs that they can emotionally connect to and not because they think it can be sold easily to a million tween zombies.

The only other person in the contest who does this is Kris Allen. He connects to songs in that same way that Adam does, by internalizing the music and "informing" the audience that they should feel what he feels.

But Adam has that VOICE...
11:02 AM on 04/26/2009
He's right too.

However, Adam Lambert has more talent than anyone who has ever competed on that show.
02:10 AM on 04/26/2009
I'm probably giving this way too much thought. I have watched the show somewhat regularly this year.

1. Adam is the clear class of the field. On first glance he resembles, and I mean absolutely no disrespect, a gay Elvis. There's serious commercial potential. He's got charisma that matches his vocal ability, even through the television one can sense an energy in the studio audience after he performs. The only genuine artist of the bunch.

2. Allison, given her age and look, with the right handling could be transformed into a limited time "pop star". Her voice is unique but without the power and volume to sustain interest over an entire CD. Well crafted, radio friendly songs written specifically for her vocal style and cute videos might give her a brief career after she's eliminated.

3. Danny seems pleasant enough, but there's no star quality. He might reach a limited niche audience like Clay Aiken's middle aged women?

4. Matt, does our culture really need yet another boy band-style singer?

5. Kris, paper thin vocals and no personal style of his own.
02:45 AM on 04/27/2009
I know that it is his intent to look like a gay Elvis, but I am an Elvis fan & I happen to think he looks more like Kurt Russell playing Elvis.
10:58 PM on 04/25/2009
I was for Danny since the beginning. There were better singers than Adam that left well before the top 12. Allison should come in second. For such a young age, she has a strong voice.
I'm sorry to the people that just love Kris. He sounds like every other boy band from the 90's. So over that. Can't understand why he and that other guy are still around. He makes such a lasting impression, I can't even remember his name.
