This Week In Unnecessary Censorship (VIDEO)

Oprah

Jimmy Kimmel is no fan of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the regulatory body in charge of policing the airwaves. So each week he does a segment called "This Week In Unnecessary Censorship," that takes normal every day language and makes it seems lewd by bleeping out words or phrases. As a result everything from "Madonna," to "Mr. Rogers" comes out dirty...and hilarious.

This week, Jimmy looked at President Obama's sex life, Kathy Griffin's odd perfume choices, and a NSFW moment from "Dancing with the Stars." It's all pretty disturbing for a Saturday morning.

Very funny EXCEPT for the Octomom one. Sick, sick, sick. Pedophilia is NOT funny.

Pedophilia is not funny, the joke is. There's a difference. It's called dark humor. No need to be uptight about it.

this is off topic, but I am REALLY tired of Oprah.........whenever she is involved in something, it has to be ALL about her

Coming from England the prudish censorship of language and nudity on television in the USA has been really frustrating for me. Even after 15 years I find the whole topic annoying. In many other countries, events such as the Janet Jackson nipple would have been nothing, not something to cause an uproar for the next year or more.

Over in Europe the SH*T word is a normal everyday word. It's so annoying that so many words beg bleeped out (or more recently silenced out) from shows, movies and even songs on the radio. It just spoils everything.

The biggest fault I have is the two faced side of programming. Take shows like Jerry Springer for example. If you are going to be offended by the show, then don't watch it. If you are not offended by the content, language or possible glimpse of a partially nude body, then why is it necessary to censor all of that?

No need to disparage Mr. Rogers posthumously.
