Jayson Williams Tasered Suicidal

Former NBA star Jayson Williams, who played for the New Jersey Nets, has been hospitalized after holing up in a New York City hotel and trashing his room. Hotel officials described Williams as "suicidal" and called the police to intervene.

When police responded to the call Williams refused to leave his room and turned violent, resulting in the police using a taser on Williams.

Williams gained notoriety after being charged with reckless manslaughter in the shooting death of his chauffeur in 2002.

Athletes get away with everything always some excuse or fan jazz to excuse them.
These guy DO get away with murder. If anyone is over rated and over paid it's professional athletics. Special Olympics at least have some integratity and true life challenge.

It's just like people to post with no knowledge. Jayson Williams had to raise his brothers and sisters after his mother died, and had to grow up very fast. When he was drafted, he had extra burdens other players didn't have. There are athletes who won't take care of their own kids. The death of the chauffeur was deemed an accident. We have double jeopardy here, so let that go.

This guy has had some hard breaks.

WoW. U people!

One thing I know for sure; if I shot and killed a person by accident, I would not want to live. I would live horribly and be tormented for the simple fact that I took a life. That said, I could see how Williams could be losing his marbles. Looking at some of your comments, I can only guess that you all are above being simply human, and aren't burdened by feelings of remorse.

Seriously. It is highly disturbing to me that regardless whether or not Jason Williams is a cold-blooded murderer or just an big stupid idiot, too many of you are surprised that he didn't handle taking a life very well. Even if it was a car accident, being negligent and taking someone's life can't possibly be something a person should be able to get over. I expect a person with a soul to be forever damaged.

Williams is a big guy. I can see why the police would have wanted to use a taser in his case. I think a use of the taser for the Naked Wizard guy was just plain old laziness.

What Williams did really was reckless manslaughter and not first degree murder like everyone is making it seem. It's not like he wanted to kill his 55-year-old driver or had any motive to do so. People act as if weapons only kill people who are purposefully trying to kill but ignore how reckless some people can be with guns.

I think the death of the limo driver is haunting his conscience. Although he was found not guilty, I believe his troubles says a lot about guilt/innocence. What innocent man contemplates suicide? I've also read tabloid stories about hisbizarre behavoir since his divorce. His ex-wife is probably writing a tell all book right now. Money can buy anything... He needs help before he hurts someone or himself. The Craigslist killer wonder if he'll end up like Dahmer?

"What innocent man contemplates suicide?"

Um, quasi, are you suggesting all people who contemplate suicide are guilty of something?
That's a pretty ignorant thing to say, don't ya think?

Jayson will see a mental health professional once he has been taken in custody.

By the numbers...

The hotel staff have some idiot trashing a room they call 911 emergency services.
The police respond and try and talk to the out of control idiot.
The idiot does not calm down and remains hostile.
The police subdue the idiot by tasering him instead of having to wrestle the idiot to the ground so they can cuff him.
The idiot is then transported to the local jail he can be contained, supervised and evaluated by mental health professionals.
The idiot then says he's sorry and that the drugs/alcohol made him act like that and promises to never do drugs and or alcohol again.
The idiot posts bail and goes home.
Rinse and repeat every few months.

Reading these posts, it's amazing how many 'good' people howl for the state sanctioned m.urder of JW. When, if the system wasn't so c.orrupted by money and priviledge, he'd probably be incarcerated as we speak.

I'll bet most of them pretend to be 'pro-lifers'. They're the worse kind of i.gnorant hypocrites.

Just to be clear. I'm against the d.eath p.enalty, EVEN for people I'd like to kiII myself. THat's what it means to....'practice what you preach!'

Many people are familiar with the old phrase, "An eye for an eye."

Basically, the idea is...if you poke out someone's eye, you lose your eye. Most people would call it fair.

They are WRONG.

You have one guy who is just minding his own business when his eye gets poked out by some ____, and you have some _____ going around poking out peoples eyes and you are telling me they deserve the SAME fate????

NO way....TWO eyes for and eye. Forget that, it should be ten eyes for an eye.

Someone no longer exists because of him. I would flip the switch, pull the trigger, cut the rope, etc etc. myself and not lose one wink of sleep.

How did he get away with killing the limo driver, again?

I said this earlier, about one of the many gunman who shoots a bunch of people before killing themselves.....

If you are thinking of killing ANYONE besides yourself, find the nearest weapon and KILL YOURSELF and ONLY YOURSELF as soon as possible.

Thanks.

Yeah, I was wondering the samething. I hadn't heard much about the story since it first happened. It was like they said " Jason Williams shot his Limo Drivers and is on trial" but they never really publicized the out come of the trial. I thought he was locked up! Maybe he should be locked up in a crazy house!

This is a mental health issue and Jayson needs help. I wish they wouldn't publicize these things so much. It makes me feel like a voyeur when I read these things. He's in the hospital, where he belongs right now, and he's getting help. That's all that is important!

He belongs in jail for killing an innocent man playing with a gun while drunk and then tried to get his friends to cover it up. The victim was just doing his limo driving job and was invited into Williams house where he was shot dead for no reason. If he killed someone you loved, would he belong in a hospital getting help? It's not a mental health issue, that's all that is important, bud

If he belonged in jail, he'd be there. OMG the venom!

Killing someone and not meaning to will make a person act crazy, so of course this is a mental issue.

Besides who is crazier; the drunk guy waving a loaded pistol or the fool watching him do it?

Actually, Jayson Williams gained notoriety from being a first round pick and an All Star for the New Jersey Nets and then forced into retirement from injuries before his incident with the chauffer.

He needs to not be in society. I don't know how all these si ck people slip through the cracks to walk amongst the normal, but they need to be controlled and rehabilitated, counseled, medicated and jailed if they break the law. I feel terribly for imbalanced people but everyone has a responsibility to society to seek help and stay away from public places until they get some help. Families have to intervene as well. Seeing someone fall apart mentally and not doing anything about it is enabling. Next thing you know, the unthinkable occurs and innocent people lose their lives. I see a pattern here.

Mike Vick got more grief for killing dogs than Jayson Williams did for killing a man.

Why is everyone bringing up Mike Vick?

Seems like many of you on this site have a problem with Black sports figures.

Hmmm, I wonder why that is?
