Supporters of Sarah Palin are aiming to derail Health and Human Services nominee Kathleen Sebelius by pressuring Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kansas) to vote against his home state governor. The call to action came from Team Sarah (a social networking group for Palin fans) Tuesday, in spite of a burgeoning swine flu crisis. Last week, Team Sarah called on members to "flood the phone lines of the Senate Finance Committee," demanding votes against Sebelius. That campaign failed -- the committee approved of Sebelius in a 15 to 8 vote.

Palin backers aren't the only conservatives targeting Brownback. Angry pro-life activists have warned that there will be consequences for the senator if he continues to back Sebelius. "We'll be extremely disappointed if Sen. Brownback doesn't change his mind," said Tom McClusky, vice president of government affairs for the Family Research Council. "That will play a role in any of our future work with him."

Team Sarah should be censured for caring more about themselves than the health of the country.

That's all.

Kathleen Sebelius will make a good Health and Human Services Secretary. When the go vernment sneaks in the national health care plan, this woman, that believes in reducing the number of lives with no problems will be in charge of reducing the number of patients that have problems. If you are not one of the DC insiders, some one like this will be making YOUR health decisions. Keep the faith..., drink the cool aid and believe in the new go vernment rel ig ion of total control. If you speak of individual rights, there will be paid pro tests against you.

I'm on the list, I went to a tea party.

Actually, they not only stand on it, they jump up and down and grind their jackboots over it, until integrity is ground into little flakes of dust.

TeamSarah doesn't tolerate dissent. Groupthink is paramount. Paranoia, obsession, and angst rule. They aren't happy people.

President Obama could make good use of his Health Secretary, don't you think? Being that maybe thousands of GOP lives are at stake if President Obama fails on this, you would think a little self-preservation would ensue.

i want the names of the 35 so that I can react accordingly in the next election cycle.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:06 PM on 04/28/2009

I think we should get the names of the 35 and lock them out of any Health Care changes....let them sit on the sidelines never to be heard from again...

How does Palin keep the pro lifer's support when she hid her own pregnancy from her immediate family for 7 months because she was thinking about getting rid of him because he wasn't perfect? These people are nuts and Palin is a pox on society!

There all out of the same box of "Hypocrit's".

This "Family Research Council" was co-founded by family of the CEO and founder of the mercenary paramilitary corporation Blackwater (now known as Xe). Hypocrites, all of them. Erik Prince himself was involved in the FRC.

It sickens me that these core folks "believe in the sanctity of human life" yet can be involved in a corporation such as Blackwater. Sanctity of life? Not if you're Iraqi, or if they get paid to kill you with no accountability.

Problem is with FRC, once the fetus is actually born, they are no longer held accountable for the welfare of that child. Post birth & Pro-Life do not go hand-in-hand so, unless some of these nutrolls patrolling clinics want to donate their time, money & homes to newly born infants born into a corroding system.... then I suggest they back off until they have a reasonable plan that includes the basic sanctity of LIVING.

It is ironic that these supposedly "right to life" people are opposing Sebelius in a crisis such as this - a LIFE & DEATH crisis. So much for the "sanctity of life". These idelogical morons will stop at nothing until the country is destroyed. Maybe if some of these idiots had been aborted we would be in a much better position right now.

NO -- let's be quite clear.

They are "right to for US to force any woman who has SEX and gets caught and becomes pregnant to bear the baby while none of us will help her or the baby before it's born and if she's out of work and has no food or health care or housing for her baby after it's born, the hell with her" people.

There are many hypocrites and many truly mean people and many sanctimonious do-what-I think-is-right people in this world, but the "right to make women bear babies even if the babies die or starve" people are the absolute worst.

Pass a law -- if you're right to LIFE, then by God, you support that life. You take these babies into YOUR home and you feed and clothe and love them and give them a LIFE or else shut up and quit imposing your self-proclaimed virtue on others.

I live in Kansas (thank you, I'm sorry sometimes too). We have to continue to let Sam Brownback know that he should not cave in to the pressure of these ignoramuses. He represents me too, even though I didn't vote for him. The right is just trying to bluff him. They're not going to pull their support of him. Who else are they going to put in his place? No one. He has the name recognition and the votes. Sad, but true.

Could there possibly a more telling contrast than Palin for the Republicans vs. Sebelius for the Good Guys? A narcissistic, ignorant "beauty queen" of the tabloids vs. a genuine woman of character and substance, a governor version of the values and character and smarts of Obama himself, which is why they've hit it off so well from the start. Palin and her fans can hold her nominating convention in 2012 in the gym of Anchorage High, since her donor base won't be able to rent anything bigger, and the gym will hold every fan she's got by then. Isn't it mind-boggling that some American women are such dolts as to prefer a Palin to a Sebelius? Wonders never cease.

First off why would anyone listen to Palin? Really the woman is the mental equal of a turnip. To hold up the appointm, ent of Sebelius is ignorant at this time. They could care less that the nation needs all our people to be in place so they can fight the possible health emergancy that may happen. But I guess that doesn't matter since it is not about abortion only people that are alive now.

LKV, what did turnips do to you, why insult them so? The right to lifers present the best argument for mandatory ster!lization that there is, and it should have started with their parents.

As a turnip, I am deeply offended by that statement.

We conducted a snap quiz, and even the dumbest tuber in the whole field could name two supreme court cases.
