'Dancing' Cuts The Real-Life Couple

LOS ANGELES — Chuck Wicks is leaving the "Dancing With the Stars" ballroom. The country singer and his professional dance partner (and real-life girlfriend) Julianne Hough were eliminated from the ABC dance-off Tuesday.

Wicks had improved steadily throughout the season, earning praise from the judges for his "hip action" and fun-loving attitude. Judges loved their cha-cha Monday, with Carrie Ann Inaba insisting, "You are definitely in the game." Wicks also appeared in a group dance, which ended with him and his fellow male dancers in black leotards and white tights.

The 29-year-old musician came into Tuesday's results show with a solid 51 points out of 60, but fans failed to keep him afloat.

Viewer votes are combined with judges' scores to determine which couple is eliminated each week.

"To all the critics that thought we weren't going to last: We did it," Wicks said after learning his fate. "Now I'm going to go out on tour and enjoy doing what I love, and that's country music."

The week's low scorer, Melissa Rycroft, escaped elimination. She missed Monday's show because of a rib injury and earned just 21 out of 30 points from judges for a taped rehearsal performance.

"It shows you how many fans Melissa has," Wicks said, adding, "I think the team dance did us in."

Tuesday's results show also included a performance by Robin Thicke and the continuation of the new professional dance competition: Four pro dancers are vying for viewer votes and a spot on the next season of "Dancing With the Stars."

Besides Rycroft, four celebrity contestants remain: Rapper Lil Kim, rodeo champ Ty Murray, Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson and actor Gilles Marini.

It was sickening how that reality show actress was crying when she thought she might be eliminated.

Here is a grown ass woman, Melissa, crying like a kid. She knows that, what the show is about, a couple is going to be eliminated every week. And there she was up there crying like a child. It made me sick. I hope she is sent home next week.

I think it was a bad idea to have a couple going steady, to dance together, the little flirtatous behavior between two dancers that we normally see, was not there...af­ter the head judge criticized for the lack of chemistry, they tried to show too much intimacy.
It would have been much better, if they were paired with different partners..­.
Gilles or Lil, perhaps Lil would win.

I love Lil' Kim. She was the first contestant to perform and impressed me immediately. I don't know too much about her music, but her attitude is fantastic, and you can tell she is really working hard and trying to win.

Too bad. He made vast improvements in his technique. I think JH lost the guy vote by bringing her sweetie on the show. It's gonna be tough voting from here out because they're all pretty good (except Gilles who's GREAT) and are very personable.

I thought they were good. The judges were a little harder on Chuck than the other contestants but I think that's because they really thought he had potential.

It wasn't his time to go. Too bad.

The order in which couples leave the show is less relevant than who ends up in the final three. Chuck wasn't going to be there. He was game, he worked hard and he improved significantly. But, I think his departure was an inevitable event as is the departure of Ty and possibly Shawn in either order in the next two weeks. The wild card in all this is Melissa and her injured ribs. If she can preform at a high level for two more weeks, I think she's in the final with Lil Kim and Gilles. Otherwise, the final three will include Shawn. That's my take.

Gilles is my favorite. He matches Cheryl step for step. Even the other contestants choregraphed their group dance with thwarting Gilles in mind. They know what time it is. I predict Gilles and Cheryl will win.

I was wondering, who has been the biggest Star on the show, in all its seasons?

By 'Star' I suppose the only fair way to judge is what % of the general population has ever heard of the person. There have been some pretty D-list celebs to start out with.

This show is probably Jewel or Lil Kim.
Emmit Smith, Jerry Rice.
I guess overall it's probably Jerry Springer or Wayne Newton.

All reality shows are rigged to some extent. It wouldn't surprise me if the girl who got dumped on The Bachelor ends up winning. Maybe this is the deal she struck with ABC after getting dumped.

Chuck is gone. Ty will be next and Shawn after that. My prediction is that the final stars will be Lil Kim, Melissa and Gilles. Should be very entertaining. I give a slight edge to Lil Kim.
