I think in some ways the intense media focus on her 'style' is the media's way of trivializing what shes doing while shes doing it. Quite a shame really because the example she sets has so far been very admirable. Whether it be to working in the garden, meeting ministers,or speeking on behalf of the president for herself and the president, ect... We all have missions in life, and its a shame those missions get buried in how we looked while we do them.

I only did the Best Outfit poll, and I picked outfit #1. I love her in those J. Crews skirts and cardigans, and that outfit was especially pretty on her. But to me, she's lovely in everything, to a large degree because "pretty is as pretty does," and she always looks so happy, comfortable and confident at any of the service events where she appears.

Will we ever get to see the front side of the red Peter Soronen gown the First Lady wore to the Alfalfa Dinner? It looks gorgeous in the photo taken of her back, but I'd love to see the rest of it!

i agree, i cant believe no one took a picture of the front, this is the first lady, people! where is the paparazzi when you need it?

I don't like this poll. I find it trivial and insulting!

I love her, and think she's beautiful, but I wish she would go for simple lines, less flashy, miss mashed belts, and match her colors better. Her shoes often clash with her outfits. Often she makes a hit with an outfit like #1 for instance, but then another day it's a definite miss. She has a great shape and should always accentuate her long legs, small waist, lovely back (for formal wear) and shapely arms. Go Michelle!

"Her shoes often clash with her outfits."

Bull.

Well someday soon you'll likely be able to get your very own Michelle Obama Barbie doll, and you can dress it up to you're hearts desire, simple lines, matching belts, shoes, and all(!)

Has Michelle Obama been turned into a fashion icon at the whims of the mediocre masses?

If she really had it together she'd have a loom and would be making her own clothes out of fiber yielded by plants grown in her victory garden.

But I would imagine that most of her fancy, organic fabrics gets shipped to the USA from distant and exotic places, like Egypt.

Probably grown, harvested, and processed by an underpaid, malnourished labor force. Indentured servitude.

Not local. Not fair.

Not very progressive these days.

On the contrary, very un-cool.

Funny that the focus falls on her fashion style rather then her intellect.

Can't we put the superficial nonsense aside for a second?

What is so interesting about the kind of cloth she chooses for her garments?

What about her brain?

I know Michelle Obama is smart, but it's nice to see a stylish, smart, accomplished woman on the world stage that isn't being labeled a shrew. She's a great example of a working wife and mother, a friend and a lover to her husband.

Since getting my first office job at 20 I've been lambasted by working women into wearing pant suits and boring colors. Michelle breaks that mold. I'm 28, smart, and not as stylish, but it is nice to see a woman who can dress in colorful and bold, yet feminine clothing and still be taken seriously.

So Burt, yes, I care about Michelle's brain, and that Michelle's Princeton and Harvard-educated brain makes her think outside of the "fashion box" in what a first lady should wear.

She needs to relax about her wardrobe .... she piles on TOO MUCH fabric/pattern/accessories ... she is a large lady, and should stick to simple stuff.

I liked her better on the campaign trail, that was HER .. since the WH, it's as if she is trying to 'be something' she isn't ...

Yes, b/c you know who she truly is and why she does the things she does. *rolls eyes*

It would be nice if Huff can make a post about what Mrs. Obama did during the first 100 days, instead of what she wore.

I think Michelle Obama has proven to be a great First Lady, and a great inspiration for young women, but her taste in clothing is terrible.

She needs a professional dresser. Her clothing does not fit correctly, she wears too many patterns, and she needs simpler and less fussy lines.

She has some great individual pieces, but she doesn't pair them well. Like that sweater in Look 1 is beautiful, but wearing it with a pastel instead of a jewel tone draws your attention away from it, and away from her face. That dress she is wearing in Look 10- it looks like it is too tight in the shoulders and bust, so it doesn't fall correctly at the hips and waist. In Look 9, she has a simple black skirt and sweater, which she ruined with the ruffled blouse and the black belt. A blouse like that doesn’t need anything else. A simpler blouse and no belt would have looked great. Then Look 6- that's just ugly.

She has a good figure; it is a shame to waste it with bad choices.

I love the fact that our First Lady has a sense of style that's all her own, and she looks great in whatever she wears. However, the whole time I flipped through the pictures, I said for all (except the last picture), "Michelle can rock that...I can't wear that (expletive)!" LOL

That makes her even cooler...the stuff we see and say, "Oh, hell no...I couldn't be seen wearing that" looks pretty good on her (esp. those belts...great on her, but I can't see a whole lot of people pulling off those fashions...)

LOOK 2, I love her gown, it's stunning...BUT I don't care for the necklace, however it is nice as well, but not with this the gown.

LOOK 10, I love the dress and the color on her is wonderful.
