Why doesn't Obama publish a list of recommended books, then they could have a sticker on them so everyone can buy copies and read along, they would become massively popular. But what sticker? maybe an 'O', what do you mean that's taken?

This is yet another reason why the Republican party is shrinking. I read the "comments" on the CNN article and wow. Very hate-filled and very narrow minded.

These 21-percenters are really delusional, aren't they?

How can having a president who not only CAN read, but LIKES to be a bad thing?

Ah, rest assured, they have found a way!

I also read the Comments on CNN, about 50 people reminded us that Obama reads from a teleprompter. It has become a frequent phrase for the right wingers. Teleprompter...Teleprompter..Teleprompter. Brain washing does work, remember the daily reinforcement by right wing news.... WMD...WMD..WMD..WMD..WMD

Obama's book list could quickly out rank sales for Oprah's choices. Betcha Amazon and Barnes & Noble are working over time to stock them.

I live near a major university outside the US and EVERYONE rushed out to get 'Team of Rivals' when they heard he was reading that last November - it's so cool, intellectuals have never had a proper book club before.

"intellectuals have never had a proper book club before."

What? They can't set one up themselves?

I can see his book list now:

1. Classified
2. Classified
3. Doesn't exist
4. Classified
5. Netherland.

How grateful not to have Bush in the White House. He only "read" as part of a competition with Rove--and then claimed to have finished "The Stranger" (about a man who murders an Arab) without any sense of irony or...well, let's just say...without any sense.

I'm in awe that he makes time, in his insanely busy day, to read.

What a guy!

Obama just sold an extra million copies of this book, i bet you all your lunch money.

I approve of a President who reads but where the heck does he find the time(as I look at the stack of unopened books I got for Xmas). This guy is truly amazing....!!!!!

would be more comforting to hear that O was reading some non-fiction...
08:51 AM on 04/30/2009
His entire work day is filled with non-fiction reading about the mess the Chimp left him.
09:01 AM on 04/30/2009
He has too much horror to read every day. He needs a book considered uplifting to raise his spirits.

Back in the late 50's, early 60's (I think it was the Weyerhaeuser Corporation) ran a very effective advertising campaign that said "Send me a man who reads." I remember that campaign because reading was a big part of American life back then. I remember a lot of people were reading books. I clearly remember while in junior high and high school we had book lists and were required to read a specific number of books from that list within the school year. We also had to discuss them, the characters, the plots, the point or ideas the author was trying to convey. This was in addition to the book we were reading in the classroom. To this day, I remember those books and those discussions. I am so glad we have a man in the White House who reads, and has the intellect to comprehend what he reads. Refreshing. I hope he starts a trend.
