[Via Ben Smith] Unintentionally hilarious anti-gay organization National Organization for Marriage has ramped up their activities by enlisting the aid of Miss USA contestant Carrie Prejean, thus unleashing the powerful influence of people who lose beauty pageants, which has traditionally been an awesome force in remapping political thought in America. As you may know, some, people out there in our nation don't have maps of, such as, political thought, maps, Iraq, such as.
Anyway, Prejean appears in a new commercial that demonstrates that she'd be much better off representing some National Organization Of People Put Off by Perez Hilton, which would be a far more popular cause. Nevertheless, she can at least make the case NOM has hinted at yet thus far failed to elucidate -- that gay marriage does any sort of harm to anyone. You might lose a beauty contest! Of course, Prejean has become something of a celebrity since her answer, and has clearly opened some lucrative doors for herself, so what can i say? Prejean has made out like a bandit, thanks to gay marriage. Gay marriage really is a rising tide that lifts all dinghies.
Meanwhile, in the time since the National Organization for Marriage and Prejean stumbled into our lives with so much slapstick, Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus have come out in support of gay marriage, and public support for gay marriage has gone up nine points. So, I'd say NOM's brilliant plan is working!

UPDATE: I suppose I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that Ms. Prejean's "No offense to anybody out there" - the statement that give NOM their advertisement's name - rings a little hollow, given that NOM board member Orson Scott Card actually advocates making homosexuality a criminal offense:
Laws against homosexual behavior should remain on the books, not to be indiscriminately enforced against anyone who happens to be caught violating them, but to be used when necessary to send a clear message that those whoflagrantly violate society's regulation of sexual behavior cannot be permitted to remain as acceptable, equal citizens within that society.
Additionally, Card has advocated the overthrow of the government, should he not get his way:
How long before married people answer the dictators thus: Regardless of law, marriage has only one definition, and any government that attempts to change it is my mortal enemy. I will act to destroy that government and bring it down, so it can be replaced with a government that will respect and support marriage, and help me raise my children in a society where they will expect to marry in their turn.
That sure seems like a lot of offense to everybody out there!
