Larry Wilmore: Obama's Taking All The Fun Out Of Being Black (VIDEO)

Poor Larry Wilmore, he's so sad that Obama is ruining black jokes. He says it's hard to do outsider humor, when the man in charge is of your race. Jon Stewart tried to comfort him saying, "race relations are still very troubled." But it didn't help; Larry said Jon didn't understand because he'll always be an outsider: "There will never be a gay Jewish president."

ok I get it our POTUS is supposed be thought of as a black man, (even though I consider him a biracial POTUS not just black), but Jon Stewart needs to get new material. Plus he keeps calling Obama, George W. Bush which is really insulting to those who voted for Obama (people who dislike intensely W). Jon Stewart is not a good comedian and needs to learn humor from Colbert. Colbert is a true liberal.

I don't think that someone being a liberal makes them a good comedian or not. I personally like Stewart better than Cobert.

As far as the biracial versus black characterization of Obama, the vast majority of black people in America are biracial or multiracial (African, European, Native American), so I wonder why people feel this overwhelming need to focus on Obama being biracial. I think in some people's minds, it legitimates him and makes them feel less anxiety about his presidency.

Look Black Comedy will always revolutionize the Comedy world..It has nothing to do with Obama What makes Black Comedians so severly funny is the life experiences that thay bring to the table and write into their routines. Unfortunately Comedy is in the 'Eye of the beholder" I have yet to see on White Comedian do Stand Up and have me laugh until my eyes hurt- I have seen them in Movies Like Jim Carey, Steve Martin etc, but stand up is beast all in its own. Now Black Stand Up comedians, Chris Tucker, Martin Lawrence, Katt Williams, Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy (Back In The Day) have me dyin because I can relate

As cool and hip as Obama is, how can comedians of African heritage (yep, I am deliberately steering clear of this trite color thing) not have a wealth of great humor. True enough as Wilmore points out, the humor is not in using the 'hood' angle for a caricature of Obama. Obama is far too sophisticated and savvy a person for a comedian to develop a convincing humorous angle by using 'hood' sterotypes.

However, putting Obama's persona in other, more creative, contexts is an unexploited opportunity. 'The Rock Bararck' on SNL was one such example. Here, Obama's cool, savvy persona contrasted with the explosive Incredible Hulk. Great laughs all around.

Yeah, and can't we just not acknowledge the fact that Black Americans have inherited peanuts while White Americans got all the wealth and privilege of a state built on slave labour. Whether or not our individual ancestors owned Black slaves, we White Americans, have inherited the privileges associated (and I include Obama in that, he may be 1/2 Black but he very much inherited a lot of White privilege from his family).

Won't it be so much easier and more convenient for us Whites to simply not talk about it... cause hey, then there's no need to do anything to right the situation.
