Swine Flu A Mexican Immigrant Conspiracy: Conservative Media (VIDEO)

First Posted: 5/31/09 Updated: 5/25/11

Swineflupanic

As near as anyone knows, the recent outbreaks of swine flu in the United States have been the result of Americans, returning to America, from Mexico, to where they live, in America. This makes a certain sense -- the larger outbreak is in Mexico, American tourists often travel to Mexico, most prefer to return home at some point. On the other hand, however, the swine flu might actually be THE NEXT WAVE OF THE RECONQUISTA, SOUND THE ALARMS!

Media Matters, has produced an entertaining little mashup, chronicling the swine flu angle from that point of view, where illegal immigrants are not just the "perfect mules" for influenza -- they are the "perfect mules" for terrorism! "What better way to sneak a virus in this country than to give it to Mexicans?" asks Neil Boortz, apparently unaware that the answer to his question is "Virtually all the other ways you can think of."

Anyway, this is compelling stuff, so long as you haven't even a passing understanding of how epidemiology and disease vectors work.

Pointing out the foolishness of republican voters.

I'm just waiting for one of the mainstream Republican pundents to jump on the bandwagon. Actually I'm surprised that Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter aren't already there. Michael Savage already beat them to it.Maybe they'll blame it on a vast left wing conspiracy. We already know they are saying it's a vast Mexican conspiracy. I'm sure it's all Obama's fault.
The antisapation is killing me. How will they put their foot in their mouths this time?

Here is a embed describing the real reasons for the outbreak and what part the government played in it.

The real story about the swine flu that the media is not telling you is how the run-off from overpopulated swine pens caused this human epidemic. Also Smithfield is the largest pork production company in the world. A factory in Mexico owned by Smithfield is where the virus had it's beginnings.

So the media actually buried two major stories. One being the environmental disaster caused by pork farming and also how the North American Free Trade Initiative was used not to employ more Mexican and American workers, instead the treaty was used to enrich corporations and to flout american environmental laws.

The media must think we are stupid. Mexicans are the victims of this epidemic. And with all of the pork factories in the state of North Carolina- we are one disaster away from seeing the truth. Who will the media blame then. The truth is that pork farming produces 6 billion pounds of pork a year. That's a pound of pork for every human on earth. Pigs produce 3 times the amount of waste humans produce. 500,000 pigs produce the same amount of waste produced as the city of Manhattan. There is no where to properly dispose of this waste. So imagine trying to dispose of the waste of 27 million pigs. The major media is playing dangerous blame games.

That is the true story. If we don't get on President Obama's case about Environmental rights, human rights and financial transparency then nothing will have changed.

Media Matters always does a great job with gathering and presenting facts. But this time they made a mistake. Shepard Smith's clip was cut too short. His complete comment was something like, And 'everybody's emailing me, saying the illegals are bringing it across the country. That's just crazy and you all should just stop it'

I agree Shepard's comments should have been played completely other wise Media Matters will be at risk of becoming just like corporate news resources.

Couldn't watch the whole thing... computer is dying, but I did hear someone say it was outrageous to connect the flue to illegal immigration, thought I heard that, at least. But overall, yeah, the message is bad: Blame it on Illegals! These folks stoke the fires of racism, hatred, and I'm sure would justify hate crimes against these brown people, because they truly believe that these people are somehow subhuman.

Pretty twisted thinking.
03:53 PM on 05/02/2009
They've made distortion of facts, passing the buck, and finding scapegoats their Happy Hour. You can't get more twisted than that....I don't think....

Just got past the headline... "a mexican immigrant conspiracy," and I can't stop laughing!

This is so irresponsible. If the terrorists hadn't thought along these lines before, well now they have been given a new idea. How can people who are supposedly well educated think this way? It is so dumb, if it wasn't for potential dire consequences, it would be laughable.
Is this an example of the education system dropping the ball, or were all these absent from biology 101, and have been living in caves?

Some people who listening to to these nut cases are takeing what they say as fact and reacting with hostility against the hispanics ! Reminds me of what happened after 911 ,when any one who even looked East Indian or Muslim were attacked ,or their business were boycotted by scared people ,even their children were attacked while they were in school by other students ! Where are these talk show nutz , sponsors at ? The sponosrs should cancel their contracts and withdraw support for these idiots ! People who went to Mexico brought the virus BACK with them ,mostly students and vacationers ,who are not hispanic .I blame the media for the mass paranoia because they didn't get the FACTS before they blasted the information onto public airways ! Not ALL Americans are stupid ,most still use their brains an think things out .
10:11 AM on 05/02/2009
I was waiting for a "Wrath of God because of Obama" line of attack. But the xenophobia line and the terrorism fearmongering work too.

It is clear what swine started the flu... Rush Limbaugh. Is there a more porcine example of a carrier of many things than Limbaugh. He even "carried" a good friend's viagra. Isn't that kind of him?

Not related but we need to remember the fake democrats that are ruining everything the President is trying to do: Ben Nelson at the top. Others include Mary Landrieu who apparently identifies with Bobby Jindal. Yikes! And Evan Bayh was the worst, but have not seen him lately. Although, if he's not really a republican why would he be on FOX making all his big announcements.

Make no mistake about it Rethuglicans are the carrier of Hatred rac ism and utter DESTRUCTION of the US. Some of them will eventually end up in a Psych ward but we need a Vaccine against them.

Boortz and Savage... that stretches freedom of speech to the utmost limit. Some people may compare their repugnant "speech" to yelling "fire" in a crowded theater. At the very least, their radio stations deserve some hefty fines. This is a lot worse than Howard Stern's use of his so-called indecent speech.
09:48 PM on 05/01/2009
I disagree. While the air waives aren't a free medium, I don't think they should somehow be stopped from what they are saying. Nor do I think the FCC should lay heavy fines. First of all anytime you try to ban speech it only legitimizes it by making the speaker a martyr. That's not really helping you. Second, it's not as though they are creating an argument that wasn't already there. If you honestly think that a flu which most likely originated in Mexico wasn't automatically seen as being spread by illegal immigrants in the mind of anti-immigrant racist then you are a little naive. Of course they are only preaching to a choir that already had that thought. You aren't somehow ending racism by banning racist speech.

Also no this isn't like yelling fire in a theater. Yelling fire in a theater has a direct immediate harm and it serves no benefit to anyone. It has no arguable value. The second we as a nation start placing value on substantive speech, no matter how repulsive, vile or despicable it is, you've crossed a dangerous line that should never ever be crossed. There is no way of putting up that barrier without things being deemed dangerous because they are unpopular. Someone saying on air that there is no god or that homosexuals have the right to marry will be deemed injurious to public morals. We cannot cross that line no matter how tempting it is, period.
11:44 PM on 05/01/2009
I unfortunately agree. Its a very fine line...

If they are going to say untrue things and present them as news in a way that endangers people, that is not news. Such commentators should be required to say "this commentary is presented for entertainment purposes only. The ideas presented are fiction and should not be confused with factual truth." You cannot yell FIRE in a crowded theater, when there is no fire, and expect 1st Amendment protection. This is little different.

Wow! Not only are illegal Mexicans bringing the flu to the U.S. but apparently they are sneaking into European countries and Japan. I didn't think these places had illegal Mexican problems.
Boy, am I dumb!
