Joe The Plumm

Joe the Plumber, aka Samuel Wurzelbacher, sat down for an lengthy interview with Christianity Today to discuss his views on the future of the Republican party. Wurzelbacher took the opportunity to speak out against gay marriage, which he says is wrong. The unlikely conservative spokesman went so far as to say he doesn't allow openly gay people "anywhere near" his children.

The word "queer," Wurzelbacher noted, "means strange and unusual."

Christianity Today: In the last month, same-sex marriage has become legal in Iowa and Vermont. What do you think about same-sex marriage at a state level?

Wurzelbacher: At a state level, it's up to them. I don't want it to be a federal thing. I personally still think it's wrong. People don't understand the dictionary--it's called queer. Queer means strange and unusual. It's not like a slur, like you would call a white person a honky or something like that. You know, God is pretty explicit in what we're supposed to do--what man and woman are for. Now, at the same time, we're supposed to love everybody and accept people, and preach against the sins. I've had some friends that are actually homosexual. And, I mean, they know where I stand, and they know that I wouldn't have them anywhere near my children. But at the same time, they're people, and they're going to do their thing.

In the vein of George W. Bush and Michael Steele, Joe the Plumber also indicated that he wouldn't run for public office until the Lord had given him a cue. "God hasn't said, 'Joe, I want you to run.' I feel more important to just encourage people to get involved, one way or another. If I can inspire some leaders, that would be great." Joe added: "I don't know if I want to be a leader."

Don't worry, Joe. The feeling from we "queers" is completely mutual!

Hopefully in the next life, Joe will come back as a gay, democratic Muslim American. Who MAKES
$251,000 a year. Karma's gonna get ya Mr Plumber.

Why isn't Joe spearheading mass protests outside of Red Lobster?

Leviticus also proclaims the eating of shellfish as an "abomination".

I want a picture of him with a plate of shrimp to surface.

Hey Joe, aka dumbas*, gays wont turn your kids gay.

You dont become gay because you are around gay people.

How ignorant are you Joe, wow. Hilarious.

"I've had some friends that are actually homosexual. And, I mean, they know where I stand, and they know that I wouldn't have them anywhere near my children."

What an astonishing statement! How can you possibly allege that you're somebody's friend when you won't have them around your children? Homosexuality isn't, as far as I know, a communicable disease.

When my sister and I were young, one of my aunts was good friends with a gay couple. When we visited her, it wasn't unusual for them to be there. They even babysat us a couple of times.

Astonishingly, they didn't molest me or blast us with a "gay ray" or anything like that. We both grew up to be rational, level-headed heterosexual adults. Neither of us is a homophobe, though. So perhaps by Joe the Plumber's moronic standards we're somehow perverted.

Well, we're even then, because I wouldn't let my kids anywhere near a person like Joe the Plumber...

Goodness. I wouldn't even give the Joe an opportunity to explain his feelings concerning aphrodite's. Wonder if these same rules apply to people living together outside of marriage, people who use Gods name in vain, women that run for the Miss America beauty queen pageant while walking mostly naked on stage causing men to fornicate inside their minds, people who drink alcohol, people who don't say grace at the dinner table, and people in general who don't share Joe's views. What a closed minded person. This is why religious people can not be allowed to posses the governing powers. Last time I read the Bible it said no sin exceeds another sin, and one single offence offends the entire law in whole. So everyone is without guilt. Including the Joe.

So, a plumber named Joe who isn't a plumber and isn't named Joe wouldn't let 'queers' around children he doesn't have... Provocative.

This guy just gets dumber- unbelievable. It's as if he is just trying to remember a string of words that he is told to recite- gets lost in the middle and has to resort to the real Joe- or Sam- and the requisite bigoted slurs.
I wonder how much time he spend around his child- or children-- still not sure about his lifestyle choices.
What is he living on? Surely no one is paying this guy anymore.

Can you imagine he doesn't allow openly du.mb people "anywhere near" his children?
he could not be around his children....

He'd probably include YOU. Did you read the whole article? Perhaps he doesn't want to have to explain to his children why what they are doing is wrong in the eyes of God. Did you even consider it could just be a simple MORAL standard not a racial or other issue you lefties want to make it out to be. I don't want my children around or being educated by openly gay people for that exact reason. Our belief is that it is immoral, wrong and YES I believe sinful. Why should I have to explain ALL that to a young child who cannot comprehend it. Dah.

Hear, hear. Good response wymoningcowgirl. You nailed it right on the head. I feel the same way. Not everyone on this openly biased news site has the same opinions as the authors.

You better pray to your god that any children of yours are gay - they will probably commit suicide as a result of your attitude.

Sorry, correction -- you better pray to your god that your children DON'T turn out to be gay. If they do, given your attitude, they will end up killing themselves.

That's not a bold statement. If you think it is, look up suicide statistics in your neck of the woods and find out how many teen boys end up committing suicide. There's a reason that they do it, even if you don't want to see it.

Also, whether you don't want to have to explain the immorality question to your children, you had better believe that you won't be able to keep them from knowing that it exists in the world.

My child grew up around gay people who were part of our family and friends. As a young adult now, she is open-hearted and accepting. Too bad your kids won't turn out that way.
