Scarborough On Boehner's Fearmongering Ad: "I Don't Think That's Helpful" (VIDEO)

Last week, Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) released a video that hinted at the House Minority Leader's new strategy: terrifying people into voting Republican. Former GOP congressman and MSNBC host Joe Scarborough said on "Meet The Press" Sunday that the ad, which features footage of the Pentagon burning on 9/11 and terrorist training camps, was "discordant" with the mood of the country right now. "I don't think that's helpful," he concluded.

What happened to Joe? He was so passionate another day defending torture, why is he suddenly showing weakness?

Is the "terrifying" part supposed to be that there is a Hispanic Congressional Caucus?

Has anyone noticed Joe being less blatant about his disdain for Obama on his show lately. He's trying to position himself as the "new voice" of the Republican party. All of a sudden, after railing, whining and crying about Obama in the primaries and the election, he NOW understands how people want a (Repub) president with an even "temperment" and the party has to not fight certain fights on the national level. (Code for the yahoo religious right base of the party)

He's now recognized this only because a) Obama shows them how foolish and childish they look attacking everything the President tries to accomplish and b) he has a new book coming out, so he wants to be taken seriously as a thoughtful, even-tempered "conservative Republican"

Gimme a break Joe, we see right through you!

How many times can the Repugs shoot themselves in the foot before they can no longer stand at all?

If I remember correctly, Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews were demoted for 5 minutes (before the big bosses realized that they had the ratings, and I am sure Joe Scarborough who groups Mika with the night time crew if she says something sensible, was overjoyed) and the final decision was made on the evening of the RNC that Keith Olbermann apologized to the viewers for their exploitation of 9/11 images. Did Joe Scarborough stand up with him and say he agrees and support the shared view?

I choose hope over fear.

I think the ad doesn't work, but mostly because when I'm asked if I feel safer now than I did with Bush and his merry men at the helm, the answer is a resounding "yes."

Other than fear, the republicans have nothing to offer. The country needs a few of them around, but not the current republicans.
02:40 PM on 05/04/2009
The only thing that terrifies me is the thought the republicans will get anywhere near ever leading this country again. Other than that, carry on...

Yeah, becacuse fearmongering worked so well during the election.
