Teaching Kids That Evolution Is A Lie Through Song (VIDEO)

You're young, you're impressionable, you need guidance and you hate science class. Where do you turn? Geoff Moore and the Distance, the Christian Rock band that gave us such hit albums as "A Friend Like U" and "Ev-O-Lu-Tion." Geoff loves the lord and hates evolution and made a rock video many years ago to spread the gospel of gospels. It's pretty awesome, what with the 90s "special" effects and anti-science rhetoric.

The video starts with a biology teacher saying, "Darwin first did the imminent service of arousing attention to the probability of all change in organic, as well as in the inorganic world, being the result of law, and not of miraculous interposition." Moron. (We see he is a moron cause of his annoying voice and lack of hotness.) It follows a young woman in the class and her magical textbook that holds singing Christians. They tell her that, "It takes a lot of faith to say we're accidents of nature, but I believe we are the work of a loving Creator." (Via Videogum)

I really think creationists intentionally mislead people (LIE) when they say those of us who believe the theory of evolution think humans descended from monkeys. If this were true, why would monkeys still exist? We believe we and monkeys were descended from a common anscestor. But coming from monkeys?!?!?! PUH-LEASE!

Watch the documentary "Jesus Camp", you'll see that your convictions are well founded. The lady pastor featured there, who emits an aura of crazy, wants to train child soldiers for Jesus. She reasons that "if Jihadists can train suicide bombers, why can't we Christians train soldiers who will lay their lives for Jesus?". And before she said that, you'll see footage of children in fatigues and war paint dancing to Christian war tunes.

Obviously you never bothered to read the full quote because then you would then realize he wasn't talking about any organized religion or religion as you define it. In fact the full quote argues the opposite of what you intend. Einstein stated he was an agnostic or in fact would be considered an atheist by religious people.

He considered the Bible a book of fables. He never spoke against atheism.

So some guys attempting to look cool and a hot looking girl are going to make me change my mind about Nobel Prize winners teachings on molecular biology? Do these guys have a clue how stupid they look? Does making a professor/teacher look uncool validate an opinion with zero scientific backing whatsoever? Looks like the war on ignorance is far from over. When they made the comment about "evolution says your uncle was a monkey" they proved that they don't even know what evolution actually means. I wonder if any of these people have any scientific training at all. I also wonder if they know that we are biologically classified as apes by the Linnaeus classification system - I doubt it. Pathetic attempt at trying to make a "lie" out of something that is true. Sad. The good news is that education is defeating ignorance - more Americans now believe evolution is real (and it is) than don't but we are a long way from convincing the ignorant. The "war" continues.
