I agree with Icantbelieveher. I think Huntsman is a bit too fair-minded of a man for the Republican base to get behind. I suppose a lot can happen in a few years. But then again, the Republicans haven't changed their ways in a very long time.

Don't know if the Evangelicals will bite here. They deeply distrust the Mormons. Romney couldn't make that hurdle, but it could also have been that he was a blantant phony and serial panderer.

If they listen to what mainstream America wants, they risk losing their base and by pandering to their base, they lose the rest of America! Either way, it's not enough votes to win an election!

If the guy makes any sense at all (and why would Plouffe be queasy otherwise) it will also mean he has not change of 'charming the base'.

The guy will lose in the primaries to someone who makes a lot less sense (Palin, Romney, Jindal: take your pick, enough to go around in the GOP).
