Before I leave, however, can anybody answer just one question. WHO ARE THE KHAZARS?

Can we not go there? It really isn't helpful or relevant to modern dialog.

Boy, when it comes to Israel, people are "touchy touchy" it seems. I'm not even going to give my input on this subject because everybody would probably curse me out. So I'll just leave well enough alone.

Israel has no intention of joining the NPT and dismantelling its multitude of nuclear weapons facilities. Israel needs to use the weapon of the "fear of us" in order to threaten every country in the region who dares stand in its way as it continues to expand its theft of Palestinian lands and expand its regional hegemon to steal the resources of other countries in the region.

Israel has zero credibility to say anything about Iran when it has demonstrated that she is the greatest threat to the peace and security of the Middle East. It's continuous preemptive attacks against its neighbors are just one example, let alone its barbaric treatment of the Palestinian people for 60 years.

What we need to fear is Israel and not Iran - actions are louder than words - and by God, Israel has shown how ruthless it is. I am ashamed that my country has allowed Israel to get away with such atrocities with impunity. It is about time that we end this hypocrisy and double standards and ensure that Israel joins the rest of the "civilized world" by abiding by international law, humanitarian law, and the same standards that we expect of other countries.

Israel must sign the NPT or be subject to sanctions, divestment and isolation.

That's because Israel wants to keep on fighting like they are used to doing. They don't want peace with Pakistan and they have made that perfectly clear.

Here ! Here ! Huffpost. Good for you !. You finally got the courage to post the fundamental question about Middle East nuclear double standards. Let the debate begin.

Stop the foreign policy hypocrisy. Israel pre-emptively invades their neighbors, Iran does not.

Unlike Iran, Israel simply has too much to hide and wants to keep it that way. When is Israel going to sign the NNPT and allow IAEA inspections ?

Israel wants Iranian nuclear transparency? Then Israel better be just as transparent.

America's silence about Israelis nuclear weapons and lack warmongering for Iran to protect Israel is wrong. The Iran 'issue' is 100% Israeli.

Israel's lack of membership to the NPT while maintaining such harsh rhetoric towards Iran's nuclear program, which is legally allowed to enrich uranium as a NPT member is an example of the kind of outright double standard BS that Israel must be called out on.

Israel has its own nuclear arsenals and they are the biggest recipient of our aid in the world.

Why is Israel, a rogue nuclear state allowed to lay waste to every international law and convention without criticism and their "enemies" are not entitled to raise a hand in their own defense ? Cut the billions of dollars we give Israel each year, we need the money here at home, not financing 'security' for our biggest welfare client.

Good news? There will be when the US recognizes a two-state solution, a separation between Israel and this one, the United States

The TRUTH is the Israelis are NOT the original Jews. They are Khazars. The original Jews were Ethiopians. That's what they don't want known to the world and why they continually fight Pakistan.

If Israel were to admit that it's had a nuclear arsenal for the past 40 years then this would out the fact that the US gov't has been consistently violating the Symington Amendment

Why would Israel refuse to sign the NPT Treaty? Even Iran is a signatory, along with the US and Russia. They would have to allow inspectors into their nuclear facilities and declare how many weapons they have (technology stolen from us) but so what? Signing the treaty doesn't mean you give up your weapons; you just agree not to spread the technology. Isreal apparently feels they are above any international agreements; they certainly don't live up to any they have signed so far.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:29 PM on 05/06/2009

Actually, the treaty is about disarmament, which is why all the signatories with nuclear arsenals are in violation, just as much as any country without that is seeking the same.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:40 PM on 05/06/2009

More actually, it is against the treaty and US laws for the US to give foreign aid to a nuclear country that is not a signatory to the NPT. Hmmm......

There are major differences between the Israeli government and the Iranian government. Israel has had nukes for a while now, and they haven't used them even though they nearly lost the 1973 war, the only time nukes were considered. Israel is a democracy and it's leaders are mostly rational, so they are not going to launch a nuclear first strike against anyone.
Iran on the other hand, is ruled by crazy religious fundamentalists who have repeatedly threatened Israel with annihilation. A nation that is willing to sacrifice one person as a suicide bomber, may also be willing to sacrifice millions of their own people by nuking Israel and getting hit back. They could also give the bomb to Hizbollah or Hamas, and they can detonate it in Israel without having Iran involved.
So to sum it up, the Israelis are rational, and the Iranians are not, therefore Iranians with nukes are incredibly scary.

How do you know that 1973 is the only time that using nuclear bombs was considered?

Israel has a history of pre-emptive attacks against its neighbors, like the two strikes against Syria last year that were unprovoked. Fortunately the cooler heads in Syria went to the UN instead of retaliating which, of course, resulted in nothing be done to reprimand Israel.

Israel has admitted to sending assassins into Iran and murdering scientists working on Iran's nuclear energy program.

Israel's government has continued to carry out acts of aggression against its neighbors with impunity. They put settlements on stolen land and they are promising to expand the settlements. The leadership is not trustworthy.

Absolutely correct! And of course Israel does not have any "crazy religious fundamentalists" nor does Israel attack other countries and occupy their land, nor invade other countries (and get a bloody nose).

Indeed, Israel only once (OK, several times) prepared its nuclear arsenal for deployment - the one that drove the US berserk occurred in 1973 - when the Israeli army was in full retreat! President Johnson had to bribe Mrs. Meir with an aerial bridge of weapons, tanks AND volunteers...

Other occasions are not so well documented, but strategists agree that the failed invasion of the Lebanon in 2006 put the Israeli command under pressure to use tactical nuclear weapons - in stockpiles (and continued production at the Daymona nuclear facility in the Negev).

You really must read Seymour Hirsh's book "Samson's Choice" to understand what tragedy Israel is preparing for the peoples of the Middle East - when all its attempts to prevent the creation of a Palestinian State fails.

All one hopes is that the Israeli people would stop such a historic gamble - that would end Israel and tarnish the memory of those who inspired the Jews to establish a home in Palestine.

And please spare the world the revolting self-aggrandizement about 'Israeli rationalism,' etc.

I don't think Johnson was president in 1973.

As we have seen repeatedly since 1948 Israel is capable of anything including state terrorism, war crimes, illegal occupation and oppression of Palestinian land and people and a complete disregard for the rule of law. Would they use a nuke? Absolutely. Iran on the other hand has not attacked another country in 750 years.

The West Bank is dotted with shrines commemorating the birthplaces of Hebrew patriarchs and war heroes from biblical times. No Jew should feel ashamed of settling there.

Jordan is the national home of the Palestinians, according to ex-PLO terrorist Walid Shoebat: “Why is it that on June 4th 1967 I was a Jordanian and overnight I became a Palestinian? [...] We did not particularly mind Jordanian rule. The teaching of the destruction of Israel was a definite part of the curriculum, but we considered ourselves Jordanian until the Jews returned to Jerusalem. Then all of the sudden we were Palestinians - they removed the star from the Jordanian flag and all at once we had a Palestinian flag."

So let's hold them to "two states for two peoples," rather than "three states for two peoples." Their cousins in Amman don't mind the fact that they're ruled by the successors of a Hashemite king from Saudi Arabia, and Fatah doesn't care that it threw out Israel's offer in 2000 to transfer the entire West Bank to the so-called Palestinian Authority.

And the US is dotted with tribal land that belonged to the native Americans, and ENgland is dotted with French settlements - wait.. In fact French monarchs ruled England for some 450 years (Remember your William the Conqueror stuff?)... Longer than the Jewish Kingdoms - if you ignored the biblical narrative and stick with archeology and science... Wow, now that I remember, and France is littered with dots where England established itself, particularly in Brittany... Did I say BRITTANY... I always wondered where the world Britain came from...and while at it, parts of Poland really belog to Germany, They even speak German to this day...OOops, and parts of Germany belong really to Poland - from at least 1000 years ago...

To justify kicking out 700,000 people (now over 6,000,000) for a set of biblical myths that archeology could NOT verify ANY SINGLE MAJOR STORY in it, is a travesty of logic and reason.

Still, they seem to let you have most of the land, and all what they want is a part of it.

Now you are well advised to go along with the US plan. If you don't, it is another 60 years of sleepless nights for both Israelis and Arabs!

Walid Shoebat is an American citizen, claiming to be born to a Palestinian father and American mother, and to be a former PLO terrorist, although many speculation has been raised about his "terrorist" past by various sources. Shoebat came to public attention by becoming an ardent critic of radical Islam and supporter of Israel.
Critics have questioned Shoebat's story as well as those of other alleged converts from Islamic terrorism, saying they are evangelical Christians falsely claiming to be former Muslim terrorists. Academic professors and others who have heard Shoebat and the two other evangelists he sometimes lectures with (Zachariah Anani and Kamal Saleem), complain they are too old to have been recruited for Islamic terror as a teenagers since the ideology of Islamic jihad attacks "only became prevalent in the late 1980s," and the men are all middle age. One of the three, Kamal Saleem, claims on his website to be descended from "the grand wazir of Islam," and to have infiltrated Israel to plant bombs via a network of tunnels underneath the Golan Heights, though neither this post nor the bombing incident are known to the public according to Prof. Douglas Howard, (who teaches the history of the modern Middle East at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan) or others

Israel is outnumbered by over 125-1 by the Arabs who want to exterminate it. Should it's "Ace in the Hole" be a bowl of chicken soup in case it is overrun one day from enemy Arab states who surround it?? The nuclear option has kept the Arabs at bay-it works for Israel..and it will NEVER sign what would become its own death warrant because Hillary or Barack "thinks it's a good idea".

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:59 PM on 05/06/2009

okay. And Iran is outgunned by Israel on a scale greater than 125 to 1, and it has been the target of explicit threats by Israel that it will attack Iran if Iran does not do what Israel wishes. So why should not Iran speed up its pursuit of the one weapon that will keep the Israelis at bay? Because they're Muslim and Persian?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:06 PM on 05/06/2009

Israel is not an aggressive nation and they do not seek to destroy Iran, so therefore there is no need to keep the Israelis at bay with nuclear weapons. Israel, on the other hand, has been repeatedly attacked and threatened with genocide by most of it's neighbors, and they nearly succeeded in destroying Israel in 1948 and 1973. Israel's paranoia is totally understandable.

They are going to nuke themselves to save themselves? Israel faces insurgencies on its border in Lebanon and Gaza, not far away in Iran or Pakistan or conventional attacks from Syria, Jordan or Egypt.

The 'demographic bomb" is far more powerful than nuclear weapons. Israel will be defeated close-in, with rocks, rockets and missiles. Not a standard military campaign, it will slowly evaporate (check the emigration figures) as young people with a future decide to live in the US or Europe and the Arab population grows steadily. A nation of old people, hiding behind their Wall, an ironic reverse ghetto.

The Arabs can wait a generation or two. They have learned to specialize in endurance.

Let 'em wait...and hold their collective breath waiting!! I suggest you read the book --"The Masada Plan" about the plan for Israel to nuke the area if they thought, for sure, they would be overrub by the Arabs!!! Google Masada..and the Masada Plan to learn more about what you are mocking here!!

A new study revealed that Israel has been dumping more than 50% of its nuclear and chemical waste (estimated weight of 3 million tons) in Palestinian lands especially in the southern parts of the West Bank.

Using garbage & sewage as weapons? Seems incredible also that raw sewage from the settlements (on higher ground) is directed toward Palestinian food crops & domestic animals & that unequal or no sanitation services are provided in some areas by the Israeli govt. This is not humane or socially responsible behavior. The US Congress has condoned & encouraged this treatment in Palestine for decades. It's time to say Americans are better than this!
