Zach Galifianakis Traps Natalie Portman Between Two Ferns (VIDEO)

Natalie Portman Zach Galifianakis

Zach Galifianakis's insane talk show "Between Two Ferns" is back and he's breaking out of his shell by introducing his awkward sweatiness to a whole new species: the celebrity dog. Natalie Portman joined Zach between his ferns this week with her puppy, Whiz. The dog ran off after Galifianakis asked if he could smell it. The dog is smart.

Portman stayed even after Galifianakis asked if she shaved her vagina for "V for Vendetta" along with her head. Natalie refused to answer, but didn't run away.

Here are other creepy episodes.

Philistines.

I don't get opera, but I don't go running around claiming La Boheme is crap.

If the comedy is too weird, you're too old. Go knit some doilies and watch Bob Hope if you don't like it.

The uninitiated have the same baffled/consternated reaction to Tim & Eric Awesome Show and all experimental, Da-Da TV and digital arts. It can't be helped.

And the word I'd use for you is tiresome.

Comedy is subjective. Funny is subjective. If you don't think it's funny, fine. But there are no absolutes. Zach is an acquired taste- it took me awhile to warm up to his style. And by awhile, I mean a couple years. But once he broke through the barrier, I couldn't get enough of him. Zach very much does comedy for the few; he doesn't give a damn about mainstream popularity, so avoids the broad strokes that makes "popular" comedians popular. But while Larry the Cable Guy will be in the dustpan of comedy history, Zach is building a legacy that will last decades.

One of Heidegger's many star pupils Hans Gadamer wrote extensively on taste in Truth and Method. His conclusion was that taste is not an archipelago, where a plurality of tastes are isolated but all on the same level. It is monolithic and scalar, a single mountain. You either have more taste or less. I gotta agree with Gadamer. Zach Galifianakis humor is proof enough.

trying to convince people that ZG is funny is like trying to tell people andy kauffman was funny in the early 80s. either you got it & loved it, or, more likely, you didnt get it and wondered how the man had a job.

zack is hilarious to me, but seriously, how does he have a job???

This is comedy's future. It may or may not include Zach, but bizarre randomness is the new prat-fall...

You can't really call it random when it's a parody of all the inane assembly-line interviews celebrities do on promotional tours.

You could call those original interviews random, which they are, and that's the point.

First of all, this video is not in the least funny. Zac Galifianakis has amazing comic timing and can deliver a wonderfully comedic line in deadpan like no other but he can't write comedy worth a damn. I've seen a number of these bewteen the ferns videos and some of his stand-up and he is just trying way too hard to be quirky and hip through his ironic observational and satirical humour. But it just falls flat compared to others who are doing the same thing or have done the same thing. I would like to see Zac in more comedic films but ones in which he doesn't have a hand in writing.

Second of all, it's hilarious.

Natalie Portman is really funny--love how game she is.

The angry hip-hop video she did for SNL still makes me laugh; I think it's still available on NBC web site.

Yeah, her "game" is what made that video so funny.

Man, if I were fifteen years younger, a lot better looking, didn't smell like cheese steaks and anger. and had my own car, I would TOTALLY get with Natalie Portman. I mean, if she were really drunk or something.
09:51 AM on 05/07/2009
Why does she not like cheese steaks? Perhaps that's why she hasn't written back...

Natalie Portman proves, once again, that she is one of the funniest and most talented actresses out there. Hilarious!
